Summary: We've spent a lot of time in the area and we think Sound Haven has one of the most special locations on the North Fork: steps to a beautiful beach, incredible water and sunset views, and a short drive to neighboring towns like Greenport. The house has a nice open layout with a view of the water from almost every room, really comfortable beds, and overall a summery, beachy vibe. The kitchen was large and airy, and very comfortable to cook in. We especially loved spending time on the deck—we didn't have the warmest weather but whenever there was enough sun we sat out with wine or a snack to relax and enjoy the view. Jim was very responsive and pleasant to communicate with, and we would love to visit again!

Summary: This was my fifth time here at Sound Haven... still loving this place for all its beauty, fun, and quiet time. If I had to choose one thing about staying here, it would be the sunsets... you can’t even imagine how gorgeous they are. The second would be Goldsmiths inlet.. you are literally a one minute walk to a lazy ride to paradise( bring some floating devices).. the water is crystal clear and an indescribable experience if you are a beach lover...to be in touch with nature and the ebb and flow is humbling. I love taking a stroll there early morning or really any time of day! Of course there are all the fabulous wineries that the north fork has... but I also have to mention how charming and perfectly equipped the house is... what a gem!!! and the owners are super nice as well!!! Returning next year to hit the reset button ❤️

Summary: We had a nice time--nice open spaces in the living room and kitchen. The bedrooms were very comfortable. The beach was good walking and accessible. The weather was a little stormy so the views of the water were great! Our needs were met and our stay was enjoyed by all. The owner was very responsive when there was a slight problem--it was handled immediately.

Summary: Once again this paradise never lets us down. The sunsets and sunrises cant be beat. Every year brings new surprises. We discovered the deer love to visit on the side of the house..Especially at night ...As well as bunnies and the mocking birds and sea gulls throughout the day... The night is always a delight with a thousand stars in the sky... Especially around the fire pit. Even though we are native long islanders, we have discovered some awesome wineries and met new friends here and have renewed our love for this great island because of our stay here. Coming back for our 5th year !!

Summary: We stayed at Sound Haven for a very cold weekend in April after a full-on week in NY and it was just what we needed: a still small voice of calm after the chaos of the Big Apple. It's a very comfortable house with direct access to a quiet, north westerly facing beach with stunning sunsets. Food stores and other amenities are a ten minute drive away, as are some very good restaurants. The living rooms are spacious and furnished with a beach-side, casual sophistication. The two bedrooms are a bit cramped, but there is ample storage space in the two bathrooms and the beds are very comfortable. The house is warm, once the heating has kicked in, although because it's convection heating, it is quite noisy, especially when it comes on in the morning when you're not expecting it. The kitchen is a good size and contains basic cooking essentials, but it did lack a few basic utensils and crockery - I couldn't find any oven gloves or a cork screw (which was a shame given the proximity to local vineyards) and there was only a couple of cereal bowls. The deck area and fire pit would be lovely but not when it's just above freezing with a northerly wind. Contacting Jim and Liz was very easy through VRBO and they responded very quickly to my questions. We're Brits and the VRBO app isn't available on the UK app store so we had to use email for access instructions, but this wasn't a major problem. Suffice to say that if you're looking for a quiet beach-side retreat within striking distance of New York (a 90 minute drive to JFK), then, quite simply, you need look no further.
