This Beautiful Cabin was taken timber by timber from its original location in Etowah County, Alabama. The cabin is pre-civil war in construction, it was reconstructed using the old mortar technique and then added on to in its current location. The Cabin sits on a private road behind a gate. Secluded is an understatement. Fenced yard for your doggies!. It is situated on a bluff overlooking the Crystal Clear East Fork of the Little River, just below a waterfall which can be heard as soon as you open the door to the car during the wetter seasons. We have an inviting front porch with a cozy antique swing where many a book has been read in the fragrant mountain air. The Cabin itself retains all of its antique charm as you enter the Great room with its enormous original stone double sided wood-burning fireplace serving the great-room and the Master bedroom both located on the lower floor. The Upstairs is separated by a staircase that leads to a private spacious upper loft that contains two Twin beds and a Queen Bed. There is a fully functional kitchen with stainless appliances/dishwasher/stove/oven/refrigerator/freezer. One Bathroom Downstairs, with High Efficency Maytag Washer and Dryer. Flat Screen TV with Apple TV/DVD/Inside/outside Stereo/Xbox/Wireless Internet/Dish Network/Central Heat and Air. Master Bedroom overlooks a large elevated back porch and the river can be heard from an open window. There is a large stone hearth wood burning fireplace in the bedroom. The Bedroom opens onto a cozy screened in porch with a 6 person water therapy spa/hot-tub. There is a charcoal grill on the back porch. There are steps to the fire-pit and picnic area overlooking the river, and steps to the river itself where depending on the water level you can swim/float/fish/lounge or sit in the crystal clear mountain water. The house is about 10 minutes from Downtown Mentone for antique shopping/cultural activity/or fantastic food and music at the Wildflower Cafe or other restaurants. The canyon is also about 10 minutes away, and 5 Minutes from Alpine Boys Camp, Desoto State Park, Desoto Waterfall, and Lake. There are wildflowers galore and wild blueberries and blackberries and plums along the road depending on the season. Wildlife abounds everywhere. The Tin Roof provides a great sound to sleep to when it rains.

Summary: This cabin is a treasure hidden in the woods, with sounds of rushing water and sounds of nature. Feels as if you have stepped back in time when you drive up and walk in. Although there are lots of modern things (like top of the line washer and dryer and any appliance you would want) the cabin kept the style and heritage of the structure. We were pleased we could take our little girl in a dog suit, she had the best time because the owners were so thoughtful, they have a fully fenced large area just for potty time. She could go from cabin, back deck, to potty area and back to deck and you have no worries. No need to look further, this cabin is amazing.

Summary: Cabin was rustic but nice. Everything was clean and kitchen was well stocked. Although it was remote, it was in the middle of everything we wanted to do. We will definitely book it again.

Summary: The cabin was cozy and well-stocked with some very thoughtful touches. Space-wise, it was great for two, but a larger group might feel a little crowded. The wi-fi signal is strong and reliable, but there is no cell service at all. You definitely feel like you're away from it all and unplugged while you are there. The hot tub was awesome! And the creek/stream out back was also really nice -- clean and clear. Our dog loved swimming in it, and we did, too. It does take a little work to get to the water -- there are a couple sets of stairs going down to the shore, and then shore itself is all rocks/boulders; there is no flat/beachy area and thus no easy way in/out of the water. Overall a great stay!

Summary: This is the second time my family has stayed at one of these beautiful cabins(we stayed at Valkyrie last visit). Such a relaxing trip to take with my husband & our two teens. We swam everyday in one of the most refreshing rivers on the property. Every evening soaked in the hot tub while listening to most unique bird, Chuck Will's Widow. Ate at the Wildflower Cafe, delish! Hiked down to Desoto Falls & swam a bit. I promise you will not regret booking at any of his properties. We will be back!

Summary: We enjoyed the property so much and loved that we were forced to relax. We took full advantage of the fire pit and the screened in porch. We had a fair amount of rain both days of our stay and enjoyed listening to it thru the trees on the porch and on the metal roof. My husband and I have stayed in a lot of rentals and he and I both agreed the property was perfect. We couldn’t think of anything that it didn’t have or offer. Thank you!

Summary: The place was just what we needed. The route down to the river was a challenge due to being out of shape but it was nice to do it together. The scene when you got there was worth the short steep walk. Beautiful. Just a lovely place to be away from it all.
