Summary: Well-maintained, gorgeous home with plenty of space. Visited family for the holidays and it was a cozy, relaxing place to retreat each evening. Very communicative and gracious host.

Summary: This is a super charming home in Roxbury and was a great place for me and my boys for our Johnstown visit. My opinion of the pros and cons are below, but I can say for sure that the pros far outweigh the cons and I would certainly stay there again. Note that Monday night is street sweeping and you can get a ticket so have to park on the next street or at the park, which is no big deal. I didn't see the signs but a friendly neighbor let me know. Note also that this area of town feels completely safe and I was comfortable with my boys there while I went out for a run. I don't know what's happened to Johnstown since I was a kid with regard to crime, but it makes me sad. In any case, this house is in a nice safe area. Pros: beautiful interior and exterior filled with charm, comfortable living room and great front porch for relaxing, plenty of windows for natural breezes, comfortable beds, nice back yard for the kids to play in, right next to huge park, close to grocery store, great little balcony off bedroom, great dining room for family meals Cons: no main floor toilet and second floor toilet seems like it wants to clog - just needs to be replaced, not much prep room in kitchen, no big deal though, as this is the way houses were built way back when.

Summary: This a really cute house, and the hillside (mountainside) neighborhood is lovely and convenient with pleasant views. Our granddaughters had never been inside a Victorian house, and they were enchanted by the concept of a kitchen staircase and Crystal doorknobs. We all loved the porch swing and the porch itself. The house was nice and clean, and we did our very best to leave it that way. Ample towels, and extra bed linens easily accessible. The furniture inside was comfortable and arranged for maximum usability, with well defined areas for tv, reading, and dining. The wifi was accessible and fast enough for all of us and the big TV there. All of the bedrooms were roomy and comfortably furnished, with nightstands on both sides of the beds. There were two drawers available for unpacking, as well as spare sheets and a blanket that were easy to find. The AC in the bedrooms was fine, and I imagine the exquisitely crafted benches over the radiators would be a delightful warm place to perch in the winter. There are quite a few steep steps up to the main level of the home, and those with disabilities might want to know more about the possibility of access from the back of the house. Also, there is no AC in the main floor. Our host went above and beyond to deliver excellent customer service. I would heartily recommend this home for any family of grandparents, parents and two kids. Our host graciously offered a twin mattress. This would be a good way to accommodate three young children of different sexes. 0ne room has a queen size bed and enough room for a portable crib.
