This detached lodge sits in a rural location close to the town of Castle Douglas, a designated ’Food Town’ with many attractions close by.. Living room: With wood burner, Freeview TV and DVD player.

Bedroom 1: With king size bed and en-suite with shower and toilet.

Garden with sitting-out area and garden furniture. BBQ. Private parking for 3 cars. No smoking. Please note: Dogs to be kept on lead at all times. There is an unfenced pond 110 yards from the property.. This delightfully situated, detached holiday lodge is presented to an excellent standard, and situated in a rural location near to a working farm. The village of Springholm has its own shop and pub, but just a short drive away is the food town of Dumfries and Galloway, Castle Douglas. The cottage makes an ideal base for exploring this wonderful area either by car, bike or on foot, and the Mabie Forest mountain bike tracks are close by, whilst the scenic Caerlaverock Estate has a network of paths to enjoy. The cottage is also central for the 7Stanes, and there are several excellent golf courses in the area including the championship course at Southerness.

Summary: Lovely location, some nice touches from owners and not bad equipped kitchen. Overall the lodge was clean and smelled clean. However, a few minor issues, toaster was filthy, it had alot of burnt crumbs in it which isn't acceptable. Need more or larger baking tray for oven as only one small one available with a pizza tray. Mattress protector in downstairs bedroom was badly stained and there were no pillow protectors on pillows thankfully we had brought our own. Tin opener didnt work. Handle on toilet brush downstairs was broken. Surprisingly limited TV channels however good to be a smart TV so could use catch up programmes in the evening. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommended this lodge and as we really enjoyed our time there we would love to return in the very near future. Summary: We had a lovely stay at Barncailzie Lodge and would definitely stay again and recommend to others. Washing machine could be doing with a clean as there was black mould in the drawer and around rubber opening (i cleaned the drawer as best I could). We used the fire in the livingroom 1 night and it was fab (we rescued a butterfly that had got trapped in the fire). Loved seeing the animals and birds around the lodge. Would highly recommend. Summary: If you like living in the country this is the place. Very quiet easy access to plenty walking and if you need to shop it’s only 15 to 20 minutes to good shopping facilities.
