Positive: The location provided access to many of the places we wanted to explore- hiking trails, easy drive to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor areas along with the smaller nearby towns, Oceanarium, Bass Harbor Lighthouse, lobster shacks.
Negative: The house itself could use a deep clean and update. Much of the furniture is in disrepair, the back bedroom that requires a ladder to enter was unsafe as the ladder was not secured well, the back family room did not have handles on one side of the door so it was easy to lock yourself back there by accident. The downstairs area when you enter the home smelled very musky and dingy. There are also limited curtains, so be aware it could be a bright morning wakeup!

Positive: Location was great. Sunsets on deck was really nice.
Negative: The sofa was very uncomfortable and we chose to sleep on couch instead. The bed below the loft was also uncomfortable. They could benefit with a foam mattress. The railings on the deck seemed a little unsafe as well.

Positive: If you are looking for a place on the island away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor then this house on the southwest coast near Bass Harbor and Southwest Harbor is ideal for a large family and still only 25-30 minutes from most of Acadia and Bar Harbor. The place is very well kept and plenty of room for a large family. The kitchen had everything you needed for meals and the large deck was great for your morning coffee with views of a small inlet behind the tree lined hill. Great place to relax before and after your day hiking. For the best breakfast on the island you have to go to Clark Point Cafe in Southwest Harbor....everything is good...I mean everything.
Negative: Nothing that I can think of as it met all our needs. It is just down from the road but this section of the island is not busy and did not really notice it like one or two reviews mentioned.
Summary: Perfect spot if you are going to Acadia and want to be away from the busy side of the island.
