Summary: The house was unique as it made the most of a very narrow and tall 600 yr. old building. It was nestled on a narrow street in a very small medieval town. It had everything you would need but you need to be prepared to operate in more confined spaces. Getting to the town required navigating beautiful but very twisty and windy streets. The host was great to work with and provided lots of useful information. If you're a biker who likes hills then this is a good place for you. If you're looking for something more conveniently located then you may want to consider a different option.

Summary: I generally have high standards and expectations when it comes to vacations, and these were exceeded owing to this ideal property in a medieval village with access to canyons, mountains, Nice, Monaco and the Mediterranean (Saint Tropez) all within 55-75min drive. Claviers itself is an unspoiled gem, and the house has the most breath-taking terrace view of stars, the moon, and hills for miles. We spent many breakfasts and dreamy charcuterie evenings there, recalling a day's adventures. What made the roomy and fully equipped property even more exceptional, is the care and detail that the owner, Mr. Stamp, invested to ensure visitors are well supported. His excellent recommendations for day excursions whether you have a week in the region or more, and which we followed, included breathtaking canyon hikes, local vineyards, secluded castles, authentic town markets, pampered Tropezian beach days, cycling on Med Isles and the best that Nice and Monaco have to offer. Precious family memories for a lifetime :)

Summary: We loved this place in Claviers! We were two families traveling together. The three different rooms/apartments provide plenty of space, the upstairs apartment and terrace are completely charming, and the owner and manager are on top of every detail. We rented a car to see the many beautiful sights/towns/markets/beaches. Reasonably priced, beautiful place, great bargain.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Claviers in this wonderful apartment! Claviers is a delightfully quiet and beautiful village in the heart of Provence. Centrally located, there are countless excursions available to the high alps, Maritime Alps, coast, Nice, and picturesque hilltop villages to numerous to mention. Most of these sites are within an easy hour or less drive. The apartment is nicely furnished and comfortable with an awesome patio overlooking the valley. There are 3 levels each with beds and separate baths, suitable for a large family or several couples. This is our 4th time in this wonderful flat in Claviers and we're sure to come back again!

Summary: Clavier and our accommodations were a perfect match for exploring and experiencing the charm of Provence. It is a great location to drive to mountain villages, the Gorge du Verdon and the coast! The terrace on the upper floor is a wonderful place with an extraordinary view for everyone to eat, have a drink and relax. The manager lives right across and is very helpful if needed. Locally there are hikes, lovely restaurants and a boulangerie steps from your door to enjoy! It truly is a magical place! I plan on returning.

Summary: Live like a local in a charming medieval town! Staying at Andy's wonderful retreat in Claviers offered us the best of many options: -An authentic local experience without the touristy vibes of the guide book "must see" -Convenient location that was a gateway to exploring Provence. Easy day trips from this charming home base allowed us to experience a series of adventures in neighboring villages, beaches of St. Tropez, Gorges du Verdon, vineyards and numerous other points of interest. Or, a nice place to stay put and savor the neighboring restaurants, boulangerie, vineyards, olive mills and meander the quaint cobblestone streets. -Comfortable, clean accommodations with spectacular views from a rooftop patio: a magical perch to start and end each day providing a vantage point to remind us of our good fortune to have landed in this idyllic residence.

Summary: OK, sit in your favorite easy chair, close your eyes and try to imagine a 700 year old village in the heart of Provence in France. A town that was built into the side of a hill to protect its residents from invading marauders that now remains well off the tourist trail with a friendly international population, narrow streets with no cars, intimate restaurants, and a charming town square where you can spend a leisurely day with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Now picture a 3 story town housed on a quiet no car lane with a roof top terrace overlooking vineyards and rolling countryside. That's Andy's home away from in Claviers. Activities abound in this area, including charming villages, Roman ruins, hiking and biking options, and the French Riviera a short distance away. My three visits have included a wonderful balance of relaxing in the village and options for daily touring and exploration.

Summary: One of my favorite places in the world. The air, light, climate, sky, view, and the village is unlike anything in America. It is a walk back to a different lifestyle and a terrific gateway to Provence. The patio on the top floor is spectacular. There is no better host than Andy. I have been there twice and plan on going many more times. I have recommended to many people.

Summary: We could not have picked a better place for my first trip to Europe. L'Orac is set in the center of the village of Claviers in Provence...The house has three apartments. Andy makes sure all are clean and well maintained. Each has its own kitchen and bathroom with shower. All are furnished with antiques so each of the three rooms are unique in every way. Every night, we slept with the window open to let in the cool breeze. The best part of each day was relaxing on the top floor terrace with a beer (sometimes wine) cheese & olives. The view out across the tile roofs of the town below can not be duplicated any place else. The village of Claviers is like a movie set...Cobblestone streets wind through the village. (no cars). There is a church in the town square along with a cafe that you can sit and relax . The people in the town are so friendly and if you are lucky you might catch a game of Boules played in the town court. There are many opportunities to explore the town and hike out into the country side. I recommend this destination to all my friends and hope to visit there again some day.

Summary: A Magical Provence Visit Our stay at L'Orac was a highlight of the summer’s trip! In June, my friend and I visited this charming medieval house tucked away in the small hillside town of Claviers about an hour from Nice. If you want the typical Provence experience, this is the place for you! We adored it. Lovingly decorated in the traditional style with comfortable beds, it is quiet, clean and close to the local café, boulangerie, Saturday farmer’s market, and restaurant. We thought we had walked through a magical portal to a truly relaxing way of life. Its location makes for wonderful day trips to the nearby Gorge du Verdon, hilltop villages and coastal towns. Andy, the owner, knows the surrounding area very well and can provide tips for you as well as detailed maps for finding tucked away places. This is a walk-in town so you won’t be bothered by traffic noise. Our favorite part was lounging on the terrace in the late afternoon with a glass of local wine, cheese and a baguette while taking in the beautiful hillside scenery. This is a walk-up so you will be climbing some stairs. The larger grocery stores are a short drive to another town. There is a 3- 5 minute walk to the house from the car park. Andy has kept the house well maintained and it is furnished with many beautiful antiques. Nearby villages are fun to explore for attending local events and to add variety to your eating experience. We would return to this spot in a heart beat.
