Ragged Point House | A beautiful wooden house built among the trees with views of the Atlantic coast

2 Bedroom House in Ragged Point, Foster Hall

Enjoy a beautiful house of spectacular sea views, surrounded by nature, with an open plan, loft and decks. Located between the beaches of Bathsheba and Martin's Bay in a non residential/touristy area in St. John. This rural parish has more of a local village flavour.
We have a beautiful loft with a queen sized bed, bathroom and deck at the level of the tree tops and a downstairs bedroom on the level with more decks, bathroom and kitchen. Beautiful design, gorgeous wood and spectacular ocean views from almost everywhere in the house.
Wi-fi, Washing machine, dryer, fully equipped kitchen, 2 Nespresso machines, TV (no channels, I use for watching things off the computer) are all available.
Occasionally, there may be a smell from the animal farm above. This is rare, but it may occur. Also, when the pigs at the farm are fed, they make quite a racket when they are so about 5 minutes.
Finally, Kashia (who helps manage the property) might be at the apartment below It's self contained with completely separate entrances, so no need for communication between the two spaces if this is not desired. But she's there's to help if you need it.
The Government of Barbados has recently added a 2.5% room tax to all rentals. This is included in the price.

Summary: The views here are amazing if you are looking to be in touch with nature. This place is very far away from the busy Vibes of the tourist areas so you will be in a very serene and quiet place. Here you listen to birds and frogs and all types of other beautiful sounds while being able to bird watch and bat watch. The owner of this amazing rental was very communicative and available for all of our needs. The only downside of our stay was the fact that there were a lot of fleas from a previous renter which left me in my friends very bitten up. The owner assured me that this was a isolated incident and that she would be handling it promptly after our stay. She handled the situation very professionally and I felt someone satisfied with the end goal! Overall I believe this place was a very beautiful stay and if you do want to be here make sure you bring your bug repellent because you are right in the middle of nature. This place has everything you need so as long as you bring your own food you will feel right at home

Summary: My girlfriend and I recently spent 8 nights at Talking Trees and really enjoyed it, it truly is a magical place. The house was larger than we expected, with a lot of open space, like being in an over sized tree house with the best views of the east coast imaginable. Angie has a wonderful taste in art and decor which gives the place a wonderful homelike warmth. We found it to have everything we needed for our stay.. The decks are a real plus and when the doors are open the breezes and birds flow in and out. The garden has monkeys and mongoose passing through and they were a lot of fun to watch. Really enjoyed staying in the Bathsheba and Martin's Bay area, it has a much more laid back, rural atmosphere than the busier west coast. The nearby beaches are excellent for walking and swimming is possible at nearby Bath Beach and in the rock pools in Bathsheba at low tide. Talking Trees is a good base to explore the island from as you're not much more than a 1/2 hour drive from anywhere. We took Angie up on her offer of a jeep rental for our stay. You really do need a vehicle (and a GPS) and a 4 wheel drive is better as roads can be steep, rough and slick when wet. The west coast has beautiful blue water, white sand beaches that are worth the drive to get to. Our favorites are Alleyne's Bay, Paynes Bay, Heywoods and Gibbes. Speightstown has a nice beach and some good restaurants. The Little Bristol beach bar there is a lot of fun and has excellent food. The Fish Pot restaurant to the north is excellent and shouldn't be missed, nice beach there also. Closer to the house The Bay Tavern in Martin's Bay has really good food with a Fish Fry on Thursdays that's a lot of fun and the Roundhouse and Atlantis Hotel both have excellent restaurants. There is a small supermarket close by that sells all the basics you might need and larger ones further away. Eddie's in Speightstown and the large supermarket in Holetown are both good ones. We had an excellent stay at Talking Trees and are very thankful to Angie for sharing it with us. It was the perfect place to base ourselves for our second visit to Barbados and we would stay there again anytime. Angie was a pleasure to deal with and made booking and arrangements quick and easy. Thanks again Angie! Andrew & Tracey, Timmins, Ontario, Canada

Summary: Talking trees was a wonderful place to stay and relax. We arrived at night and definitely recommend renting a Jeep wich Angie was so helpful with and Sonia delivered the Jeep on time and was wonderful with the directions. We loved the East side of Barbados and enjoyed exploring all over the island! We also enjoyed yoga with Delia at ocean view retreat. Just a couple notes to mention: be careful on steps outside with the tile Patio and stairs. It Can be slippery when wet or at night. Angie was a wonderful host and very communicative prior to our arrival and during our stay. We loved Barbados and will return again!

Summary: This was, by far, one of our favorite vacations, and we’ve traveled quite a bit! This is not only because Barbados is an amazing country, but Talking Trees played a major role in this. Finding this place seemed too good to be true on VRBO, for the price and location. I thought the pictures were “doctored”. But, this home was even more beautiful than the pictures. And, Angelique was an amazing host. Although we wished we had gotten to meet her, she was simply a text away. She answered promptly and was quick to address and needs or questions we had. Everything for our vacation was set in place as soon as we confirmed our reservation. From arranging us a car, that met us at th airport, to directions for travel, and placed to eat. It was the easiest vacation we’ve been on. We were truly able to just sit back and enjoy. I highly recommend Talking Trees if you are looking to stay somewhere outside of the “resort” lifestyle and to be somewhere more private. The East coast shows more of the native lifestyle and was simply beautiful. The people are incredible. Angelique has a beautiful sense of art, and you feel at “home” as soon as you enter her residence. The home can be opened up to take in the fresh air around you. With wildlife putting a show on for us every morning, and listening the sounds of birds while drinking our morning coffee, I can’t say enough about this place! You just have to try it to believe me! We will definitely be going back, if Angelique will have us again! :) Thank you again for making this vacation one we will never forget!

Summary: We had the most wonderful time staying at Talking Trees. If you like peace and tranquility and being away from it all....this is the place for you. The house itself is designed so that light is all around you and amazing views of the ocean at every level. Also Angelique has a fantastic art collection displayed on the walls. You will need a car/jeep to get around as it is very hilly and undulating. the house is set up amongst the trees and you have a daily view of birds and green monkeys. There are small local shops and stalls where you can buy fresh produce. there are also a number of local bars and the Atlantis Hotel is close by if you fancy eating out. All in all for us we had the best time ever and felt very sad to leave such a beautiful place. Thank you Angelique and for being on the end of the phone when needed. Anita

Summary: .A lovely house maybe in need of TLC. It is quite a distance from resources so a car is recommended..As the driveway is steep and uneven also local roads pretty bad a jeep is a must. I would go again, don't forget to pack insect repellant. Angelique very helpful.

Summary: We had never been to Barbados but always love to immerse ourselves in the culture when we visit so we split our time up between the "Tree House" on the east coast and a popular condo on the west coast for a much higher price to get the full sense of the island. We found there was no reason to do that as the island is not that big and we enjoyed the Tree House SO MUCH MORE! It was relaxing, calming and beautiful. None of the touristy hustle and bustle like St Lawrence Beach. It was a perfect place to disconnect! There were monkeys on the porch every morning and the overall feeling of relaxation was remarkable. We picked up groceries and made some meals and then for others we ventured to some local eateries. You will need a car but Angie helped make that easy and very reasonable as well. It was amazing and gave us that true feeling of Barbadian life. If the "americanized" Barbados is what you're looking for then pay all that extra money and stay in St Lawrence BUT we experienced Barbados at the Tree House and would recommend it to anyone!
