Summary: This A-frame cabin is strategically located for hikes that begin on Highway 50 between Monarch Pass and Salida. Be aware that the stairs are steep and, as in all A-frames, the upper floor ceilings limit movement. Also, the mattresses on the upper floor beds are pretty squishy, probably perfectly all right for kids but not so much for adults.

Summary: My family and I overall enjoyed our stay. The cabin had everything we needed. Plenty of kitchen ware and cooking ingredients (spices, salt, pepper, cooking spray, vegetables oil, coffee filters), plentiful towels, linens and paper products. The property doesn't have a dishwasher, so we brought paper plates, plastic cups, plastic silverware to limit hand washing dishes on vacation. Some cons... No central air, window unit or mini split. There are a couple of fans, but it was still pretty warm on the 2nd and 3rd floor in July. There are a few windows and screens that need to be replaced, so we were limited on windows to keep open. The windows with ill fitting screens allowed so many bugs inside. The front door has a pretty wide threshold gap, allowing in heat and bugs. Those are easy fixes that hopefully the homeowner addresses. The stairs are very steep and not well lit. I had a tumble down the stairs and spent a night in the Salida ER. I was black and blue, plus incredibly sore. Thankfully, I only missed one of our vacation days. I messaged the homeowner what happened and strongly encouraged the homeowner to add hand rails and apply a "puck" type of light to light the stairs. Hopefully, that gets addressed and no one else has an accident like I experienced. Again, overall we enjoyed our stay and had a great Colorado vacation.

Summary: We ran into a little bump in the road when we got to our cabin and it hadn’t been cleaned, but Jackson was amazing and was even willing to send a cleaner out that night to clean the cabin! We know things happen but he did an amazing job righting any wrongs, and we loved our stay.
