It is amazing what you see while sitting in the sun room. Last year in April, we saw an eagle being dive-bombed by two Osprey in the cove. He landed in the water and used his wings to swim to shore, It was like watching the nature channel!
Little Wicomico Cottage is located on a cove off the Little Wicomico River in the Northern Neck of Virginia. The Chesapeake Bay is accessible by boat. There is a boat and Jet Ski launch within a quarter of a mile of the cottage. Vir Mar Beach, a small local beach, is 3 miles away by road.
Little Wicomico Cottage is nautically decorated home has spectacular views, with a private hot tub and peace and quiet.
This is a no smoking home. Ash Trays are provided outside.
The Great Room
A comfortable Great room features a wood fireplace, ceiling fan, DVD/VCR Player along with a large collection of videos with board and card games. The Great room also has a leather full-size futon should one of your party wish to sleep there.
The Kitchen
Fully equipped and bright, the Kitchen is open and usable with views of the cove while preparing meals.
The Dining Room
Adjacent to the Kitchen, Great room and Sunroom, the Dining room is a central gathering place with a table that expands to accommodate 8 people and a view of the Cove, Kitchen and Great room.
The Sun Room
Adjacent to the Dining Room, the Sunroom provides a location to decompress and watch the water and the wildlife. Eagles, ospreys, otters, foxes, deer, herons, and songbirds have been seen from this room. 5 o'clock Fred is what we call the blue heron that shows up around 5 o'clock every evening. Oscar, the otter shows up periodically, swimming through the cove. Bill and Hillary, our Eagle pair, are around every now and then. Bill gets around.
The Bedrooms and Baths
The Master Bedroom has a queen sized bed, a ceiling fan, dresser, a sitting area, a desk and views from every window. Skylights allow you to see the stars from your bed. The Master bedroom has a private entrance that leads to the breezeway. The Master bedroom also has a desk should you need to bring your computer and work while staying with us. There is also a VHS TV and children's VHS (Disney) tapes.
The Downstairs bedroom has a full sized bed, with a ceiling fan and a sitting area.This room also has a PS-2 gaming center.
The Downstairs bathroom has a shower, toilet and sink.
The Loft bedroom has a king-sized bed, a twin bed, a ceiling fan, sitting area, wardrobe and closet. This Loft bedroom is open to the Great room.
The Upstairs bathroom has beautiful ceramic tile, a Jacuzzi tub, toilet and large sink. The bathroom is shared between the Master and the Loft bedrooms.
The Outdoor Spaces
The property is beautifully landscaped and offers spectacular views from almost every room. The breezeway is a great gathering place for bar-b-ques, crab boils and enjoying the breezes from the water.
The front lawn is wonderful for playing ball or crocket.
Relax in the hammock while reading a book, or watching the cove.
Enjoy sitting out on the deck at the picnic table under the umbrella.
The dock is a great place to fish or catch crabs and to tie up your boat or jet ski while staying with us. There are fishing poles in the breezeway.
The dock has stairs for water access.
You can also take a canoe ride in our canoes.
The house is 3.5 miles via the Little Wicomico River to the Chesapeake Bay and 6 miles from great fishing.
Danny Crabb Charter Fishing is walking distance from the Little Wicomico Cottage.
The Hot Tub is situated with great views of the cove and the sky. The Northern Neck is one of the few places left that you can still see the stars.
There is also a fire pit. Enjoy sitting around roasting hot dogs, making smores, and telling ghost stories.
