This holiday home is situated in a simply stunning location! Watch the waves roll in, and enjoy the spectacular views up and down the beach and over to Mayor Island. Direct and very easy access to the beach from the front lawn means no excuse not to take that early morning swim or invigorating walk along the sand. The open plan upstairs living flows out on to a generous deck area, perfect for sundowners while the kids play in the sizeable rumpus room, or eat at the picnic table on the lawn below (where you can keep an eye on them from the deck). It is an easy 10-minute walk to the village so no need to drive if you want to dine at one of the many delightful Waihi Beach cafes.
The house is on two levels. Upstairs has open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge flowing out onto the large deck. One double bedroom, one single, a bathroom and separate toilet are also on this level. Downstairs are a further two double bedrooms, rumpus room (with additional TV) and a bathroom and separate toilet. There is also an outdoor toilet and shower (which you access via the external door from the rumpus room to the outside area), perfect when coming off the beach! There is access to both the entry driveway and the front lawn/beach from this level.
The house is very well equipped with everything you need for a perfect holiday. The kitchen includes a microwave, dishwasher and all the usual things you would expect. There is an assortment of books and games for rainy days. Linen is supplied so no need to drag that along from home. Just bring your swimmers and you will be set.
This is a lovely, comfortable house which is as close to the water as you can get. After all, what is the point of having a beach holiday if you aren't actually ON the beach?

Pets are considered, so feel free to ask.
If any damage occurs, Vrbo will be instructed to take the appropriate amount from you to fix the damage.
The absolute maximum number of guests is 12. Tents are not allowed. We do monitor the number of people and if you appear to be more than 12 you will receive a bad review on Vrbo, and will be charged an extra $500.
Quiet gatherings are fine but no loud parties please. We have neighbours around us who are permanent residents and we would appreciate your consideration of that.
Rates negotiable for longer term bookings during off peak season.
Please note the internal stairs are circular and not really suitable for elderly or infirm people (although the outside stairs from the grass up to the deck off the lounge are very doable).
There is a child safety gate at the top of the stairs. Please be very gentle with this. If you don't need it for children or pets, just leave it open to avoid potential damage opening and closing.
Please take your rubbish with you.

Summary: Stunning views from lounge/deck. I would describe this house as Retro kiwi bach style. It had everything we needed and was clean and tidy. Plenty of beds and 2 bathrooms (1up, 1 down) was great. Loved that we had access to beach from deck. Perfect for our holiday.

Summary: No air con in the hottest part of the summer. The stairs were a killer. No fan in the upstainrs bathroom. Windows down stairs are falling out and other windows need stays and hindges. No sky TV and the price we paid there should have been. Very hard to even get the TV going. I said we were all from a retirement village and that should have been a warning to more specific about the stairs.No good for kids with all the wires hanging out in the kitchen. The views were amazing but the furniture was horrible. We would never stay there again even if it was free. We have booked a house in Waikanae for 4 days over Xmas and now we are worried that it will be the same. Could you give me a phone number so I can talk to someone here in the Kapiti Coast please.

Summary: Perfect location at Waihi and Merryn was a wonderful host. We were three families of 4 with children 5-8 years old and this suited us down to the ground. Backwards and forwards from the beach all day, great deck to spend the evenings on and plenty of space for the kids to run around. If you’re into a great kiwi bach holiday then this can’t be faulted.

Summary: Great house and an ideal location just a few steps walk over the lawn and down to the beach. The house is really nice with good equipment and utensils in the kitchen, good beds and bedding, towels and so on.Couple of surf boards and 4 boogie boards in the garden shed along with buckets and spades.Outside shower and toilet. Garden table downstairs. Outside table and chairs on the upstairs verandah.Nothing modern by any means but with kids we found it relaxing and just a perfect family holiday house.

Summary: Home was in great location. Home a little tired. In need of new heaters they are rusty and plug corrosion. Stairwell, spiral, very unsafe for children and safety rails definitely not to code. Top bunk bed has no safety rails. Some electrical? Home was well equipped though to meet needs for a holiday. We did enjoy our stay overall.

Summary: The house is right on the beach and has an amazing view. The deck is a lovely gathering place for folks, and if you're a surfer, the water is 10 steps away. The layout is a bit quirky but worked well for us because the 2 downstairs bedrooms are across a room from each other, affording privacy. Communication with the owner was great - she was very responsive and flexible. Things to know: The house is old and is definitely a vacation home; nothing flash but everything works. My bed had sand in it, indicating the sheets hadn't been washed, but the sheets on the other two beds seemed to be clean. There's a charge for leaving your trash. It was a bit awkward asking my inlaws to take away our rubbish and recycling – definitely not typical for a VRBO.
