County Cork House | Absolute Peace And Sea Views In Rolling East Cork Countryside.

2 Bedroom House in County Cork, Ballycroneen

Situated at the end of a quite lane, Ait Ma Chroi (place of my heart) is an architect-designed house built by my father 30+ years ago and has been a much-loved family home ever since. It offers absolute peace whilst being in easy reach of many East Cork attractions - Ballymaloe cookery school and hotel, Ballycotton, Cork city and Cobh.
The house has a large double height, sun-filled open living/dining area with wooden floors and rugs and views of the countryside from all sides. Doors open onto the south-facing, sea view patio at the front and a courtyard garden at the rear with table and chairs for outside dining. The house is heated with wifi enabled electric radiators. A large Clearview wood-burning stove makes it warm and cosy even in the winter. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need to prepare and cook meals. There is a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, a fridge and fridge-freezer. To the front of the house, facing south to the sea, is an open garden giving onto the fields, while a sheltered courtyard at the rear catches the late afternoon sun. On a clear night you can see beautiful starry skies. From the garden are far reaching views all around giving a sense of space. The house is a family home, so there are plenty of books, guide books, puzzles and a few games.
There are two bedrooms one at either end of the L-shape, allowing for privacy. There is one large double ensuite with bath with views across the fields to the south and a door to the courtyard garden. The second room is a twin with adjacent shower room. The house provides comfortable accommodation for four, with a travel cot if required. The mile long quiet sandy beach at Ballybranagan is just a short drive away – perfect for rock-pooling, paddling and swimming. There is a surf school at Inch beach and a sauna box that regularly visits both Inch and Ballycroneen beaches. There are a number of golf courses in the area and sailing in Cork Harbour is within a short drive.

Summary: As delightful a stay in Ireland as can be imagined! The cottage is cozy and immediately welcoming, with loads of colorful flowers on the tidy property. The view of the Celtic Sea from the patio is breathtaking. The kitchen is well-equipped, so stock up prior to your arrival, fill the ‘fridges (yes, two!), open a bottle of wine, put on some music, and tuck in with a game of vintage Monopoly. Should you choose to venture out, you are only a few minutes drive from Cork, Cobh, and Ballycotton, where a meal at The Salty Dog (especially Fred’s fish chowder!) is a must-not-miss. Sláinte!

Summary: A home away from home in an absolutely magical setting. The beds were comfortable and the views from every window are lovely. The fully stocked kitchen made preparing delicious dinners after a day's adventures so pleasant. Cozy fires in the evening were another highlight. Having a washing machine also meant we could pack fewer clothes and save room in our suitcases for the many, many books we just couldn't resist from Cork's bookstores! We feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to stay here.

Summary: This home is beautiful. It has an open floor plan with exposed beams and it is filled with natural lighting. You can view the ocean from the house and can hear the surf if you are outside. I have never been anywhere so peaceful and quiet. We absolutely loved our relaxing stay here, walking the beach and visiting Cloyne for groceries. I would stay here again and would definitely recommend to others.

Summary: Absolutely amazing stay. Everything is thought of and milk and tea all left for your arrival. There was stunning views and truly was absolute peace and quiet. Lovely quiet beach is a five minute drive which the kids loved collecting stones at and we also enjoyed visiting Fota Wildlife Park & Trobolgan which are short drives away. We were worried about finding the property as it is in the middle of the country and isolated but the property is very easy to find. If you just type in the postcode alone into google maps it takes you straight to the front gates! It was beautiful at night to lie on the grass and look up at the stars with no other light pollution, breath-taking! Can’t wait to come back, would recommend this property to anyone!!!
