It all seemed a little mysterious to me, but then I visited the property and I have to admit, it became much clearer. This incredible rental property is hidden on 14 acres of magical mountain property. Outside there are woods to explore and places to hike, ponds and streams to reflect by, and even a labyrinth that provides the perfect maze for contemplation and meditation. Extensive decking connects the house to nature in an almost mystical way that brings the outdoors to you. This cozy house offers an open floor plan with a generous kitchen, ample dining area and comfortable living room that features a large stone fireplace. Summary: Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed at Berkana in January and had a lovely time. The natural light, kitchen amenities, and the labyrinth out back were the highlights. We cook a lot when we travel, and the kitchen had just about everything we needed (pots and pans, basic seasonings, cutlery, dishes, etc.). The house was very comfortable and a great basecamp for us as we hiked, snowshoed, and tubed. One note is that the house is in a community that requires 4-wheel drive or tire chains, which we didn't know when we made our reservation. Luckily we were able to get around the snowy roads okay in our hatchback, but it would have been nice to have more clearance on the unpaved roads.

Summary: We loved the peace and quiet of the neighborhood. We had a great weekend of family fun. House was very clean and tidy and just the right size for our family of 3. We will definitely rent it again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Amazing house and land. Cool Canaan valley. We had great cool weather in August. I'd read and meditate. My own yoga retreat completed with the gong. The management company showed up immediately. We had to call them re 3 things. Wish there was a bit more off prevention than just responding but can't complain

The fireplace and provided dry wood was wonderful. The turnover cleaning could be a bit better. The home smelled of curry spice when we entered. There was hair on the bed sheets, dust on night stands, and water marks all over bathroom mirrors. There was one toilet paper roll per bathroom and for a 5 day stay that’s not realistic. I turn short term rentals over for a living and majority of rentals provide 2 rolls per toilet. Overall we were there to ski, so the house was sufficient and welcoming in general.

Summary: We stay in Canaan Valley or the surrounding area every fall and Berkana was one of our favorite temporary homes, so far! We loved the open floor plan and beautiful view out over the deck. Everything was clean and the Timberline neighborhood is peaceful and pleasant. This will be our go-to this spring when we return for wildflower season. Wonderful!
