Positive: The place is superb with a view to the valley. The little pond is very picturesque, quite a big area with lots of places to sit and several sunbeds. We had dinner once which was tasty and the portions were ok, no menu though so we did not know the price of anything. Surprisingly, the bread at dinner was excellent, the same should be served at breakfast instead the horrible, white supermarket bread. Staff was kind but not too service oriented. We had to approach the waitress at the counter and ask for a jug of water or coffee at breakfast. Upon arrival we asked for another room, it was more expensive but the size of it was worth it plus the view was spectacular, overlooking the garden and the valley. I found it very charming that the farm animals, piglets, ducks, rabbits, cows, donkeys are so close and can be visited at any time of the day. It is probably an ideal place with small children, there is also a small playground at the back of the garden.
Negative: I think this place is overrated. In my view does not deserve a rating over 8, rather a 6. Given the high rating, it really did not meet our expectations. We booked a room online which, as it turned out upon arrival, looked onto the parking area, it was rather claustrophobic, fitted one bed and two night stands, with a rather small window. We managed to change to a 30 euro more expensive room per night on two levels. The bed in the loft was a bit difficult to access, had to watch for the beams not to bang your head, especially during the night. It would have been good to have table lamps on each side of the bed. Going up and down the DIY, noisy stairs felt dangerous especially during the night in the dark. The bed was very very uncomfortable. We could hear the guests in the next room, clear and loud although they were speaking at a normal tone. We did not enjoy the breakfast, mostly sweet and none homemade. A total disappointment. The bread was stale and the cheapest supermarket type. The only salty options were one type of salami and sliced supermarket cheese, the same every morning. The other choices were honey, jam, nutella and supermarket cakes. Normally, there are tons of flies in places which have live animals which is OK and understandable. But we would have expected that all the food would be securely covered or little ventilators would be put in place, unfortunately this was not the case. It was rather disgusting to watch flocks of flies crawling and swirling over the uncovered or not securely covered food (under the plastic tops hastily put over the cakes). Would have been good to have a menu with the prices indicated. I'd like to think that we paid a reasonable price for the drinks and one dinner in the end but we will never know, no detailed bill just the total sum. Overall it was OK but not as great as the reviews on Booking.com suggested. Made the mistake of not checking this place out on other sites where it got a much worse rating.
