Positive: The apartment was spacious, well equipped, clean, nicely appointed and a good hang-out. It was in excellent condition and appeared to have been built/renovated quite recently. It came with a parking space, and the location was good, minutes walk from everything in Haus, including one of the cable cars. The inclusion of the Summercard was integral to our booking, and that of course was brilliant, giving our family free access to cable cars, local swimming complexes and a wealth of activities in the region. All things considered, we had a great time and the apartment proved a good base.
Negative: The welcome/access was terrible. We had to wait 2.5hrs to get into the apartment on a Saturday evening. We called the host and the receptionist multiple times with no reply and ended up spending the evening on the phone to Booking.com to resolve the issue. When finally the building receptionist showed up, he offered no apology or explanation. It wasn't his fault etc etc. We were amazed that he showed no concern for the inconvenience - nor for the €65 dinner we'd had to buy when we were expecting to cater in the apartment that evening. When we entered the apartment, we discovered only two of the three beds had been made up. The receptionist said they'd not realised we'd need all three bedrooms. Mindless - why book a three-bed otherwise? There were only four pillows in an apartment that said it slept 8. The fridge was off, and therefore not ready for our fresh food etc. The coffee machine didn't work. It took three days to resolve these issues, which was very poor. The receptionist was surly throughout. A great shame, as an apology and some quick fixes would have so simple and so effective. The apartment was good value and served our family's purposes well, but the view of the Dachstein and Schladming valley was on the other side of the building. Ours was mostly of houses, so we didn't use the balcony. There was also a significant building project going on outside the bedroom windows, which was noisy early in the morning, but won't be a long-term issue. The TV was huge, but not smart, so as English-speakers, we weren't able to tap into Netflix etc. There was a good-looking cinema/surround-sound system, but we didn't have any DVDs with us, so didn't use it (take DVDs if you have any!). Eventually, we met the owner, who was charming in person, owned the apartment next door (which appeared to have the fabulous views), and replaced the coffee machine and provided coffee pods - and a bottle of bubbly.
Summary: Decent if frills-free family apartment; needs significant work on the guest welcome experience.
