Located on 150 acres, this Golden, British Columbia property is nestled in the forests and features lake and mountain views from the dining room, patio, balcony and some rooms. The lodge is located at the base of the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort ski hill which also features mountain biking trails and hiking trails. Golden's city center is 3.7 mi away, which is a 10 minutes drive by car while Golden Golf Club is 3.1 mi away. Located in the heart of 6 National Parks, iconic landmarks like Emerald Lake, Lake Louise, Banff, Yoho National Park, hot springs are within a 45minutes to 1.5 hours drive away. Each room in the lodge has an attached private bathroom with toiletries and towels. A continental breakfast is provided for guests staying in rooms within the main lodge. Geared towards relaxation, there is no television in the bedrooms but a TV, some card/board games and mini library and fireplace is available in the communal area. The wooden lodge is a 3-story building. Only 1 bedroom (which has 1 queen bed and a sofa) is available on the ground floor. The other rooms are all on level 2 and the Family room (which has 2 double beds and a sofa) is the only room on the top level. The upper levels are only accessible by stairs. Kindly note that the main lodge is not pet-friendly due to the built. Only the chalet that is located just across the main lodge is pet friendly.

Positive: The accommodation was lovely and quiet with no noise. We had to drive about 1 mile up a lane way to get to it. They like you take your shoes off on entering as there is a lot of wooden floors. The rooms were basic with no Tv (thankfully). There was no tea / coffee making facilities but there was availability down stairs for some. The breakfast was very basic but got us started for the day that lay ahead.
Negative: I didn’t like that shoes had to be removed on entering. In my opinion the breakfast area wasn’t organised.
Summary: Would recommend for a very quiet short stay.

Negative: Had to ask for more toilet paper which never materialised. Ended up having to take a roll from the common area bathroom.

Positive: I wanted something off the beaten path near Golden during our trip around the Candadian Rockies. I've been on the road for 2 weeks and saw a large beautiful black bear on the drive out. My first bear of the entire trip. I'm the type of person that is weary of the modern chain hotels and stale motels. I knew what I was getting and it delivered...that's why I rated highly. It's not luxurious or fancy but has a real charm to it. Will come again if in the area for sure.
Summary: Exactly what I was looking for away from the chain hotels and drab motels on the strip.

Positive: The staff was lovely, especially Janice who went to great efforts to make us comfortable. The lodge is beautiful. The room was small but quite adequate. The bed was very comfortable & the other guests were polite & not noisy as a hotel would have been. The views are exceptional with the lodge at an elevation to see the mountains & forests surrounding it, as well as the valley containing the town of Golden.
Negative: The final leg of the journey was a dirt road filled with potholes. This was not indicated in the description on line. We planned to check in & then go for a leisurely meal, but did not want to drive that last strip again, especially in the dark! If you intend to enjoy their hospitality be sure to buy any snacks en route.
Summary: This place would make a lovely spot to stay for a few days just to relax & enjoy nature.

Positive: Suited our needs of a reasonably priced B&B for a night's stay before skiing. Quirky secluded Lodge, interesting photos on the walls, and books/games etc and to chill out next to the fire. Good selection at breakfast. Staff were friendly but interactions were brief and it would have been nice to have had more chat about the lodge/history etc.
Negative: The track to the lodge is a dirt road, so think twice if you're not comfortable driving a 4x4 on snow and ice for a long distance.
Summary: Nice quirky comfortable Lodge!
