Positive: Not that I like or dislike that, but objectively there are 3 facts to be acknowledged: this is considered to be the best hotel in Comrat, they have a free parking (actually it is just a street that happens to be permanently blocked for traffic because of the adjacent school) and they serve breakfast (which is paid at around 5 euro for a really simple food plus around 3 euro for basic drinks that need to be paid separately). To sum up - being the best hotel in Comrat, there is no other positive thing that might be said. Well, they have a Georgian cuisine restaurant in the hotel, which is predominantly and constantly empty (Georgian food in Comrat is a shot in the dark by all means anyway). A loaded minibar in the room, normal prices.

Negative: This was my second stay at the hotel and, ironically, both happened to be in Room 201 (semi-luxury by definition). Basic room, basic furniture (separate pieces of furnishing, not matching in style of design, simply put together in the same space), basic linen and textiles. Air-conditioning available, but NOT able to cool down the room at all, and miraculously fiddled with to self-switch off after 30 minutes of operation. Not only not working efficiently, but programmed to be stopping by itself after a while. TV available, and in fact a very modern multi-functional smart system. But no options are paid by the hotel, so nothing is really working (internet, Netflix and all alike extras). TV channels were supposed to be available, but for some reason there was no signal to the TV set (cables were in place, signal was not). The owners live in an apartment beside the reception, the doors are open, the sight is like a small Chinese business in the 1990-ies when the owners lived above the shop and all noises and smells were coming and going around. The management is slow and strange, and I have seen that on 2 separate stays. The hotel is maybe the best in Comrat, but is a far cry from any decent well-managed professional hotel and the proud name Altin Palace (Golden Palace) is a joke.

Summary: Sleep here if you really must spend the night in Comrat, if not - proceed further.

Positive: Friendly owner, they only speak Russian but with the help of the smartphone translator we were able to communicate. They are quite flexible, breakfast is very good and served in he renovated basement.

Negative: The furniture in the room is a bit dated and would benefit from some upgrades, but compared to the region it is probably the best you can get.

Summary: Probablay the closest to a standard western accommodation in that area

Positive: Location was nice.

Negative: Not too clean, very small room. Reception entered a too high amount when paying which is just not ok. There is just one amazingly bright light in the room. Way too expensive for what you get.

Positive: The location is good, and the bed was comfortable enough. There was no problem with hot water in the shower. Wi-Fi worked well too. There are definitely limited options in the town, and this is probably one of them more upmarket choices.

Negative: I felt that overall it underperformed for its price (remember that prices in Moldova are generally low). Firstly, I couldn’t find any towel in the room (maybe the cleaning staff just forgot). Even if the staff were friendly, they could not speak English, and refused to take card payments, meaning that I had to go and find an exchange. Also, there was no ventilation at all in the room, since there were no windows. I stayed in January and it was subzero temperatures outside, but the heating was blasting on full and the radiators wouldn’t change temperature, which made it stiflingly hot to get to sleep - even after leaving the door open, I had to turn on the AC for a bit, which felt incredibly wasteful when it was snowing outside!!

Summary: Acceptable but nothing special

Positive: The hotel is situated not far from the main street. It is a solid 3-star hotel, while Moldovan Toursim Agency has given it 4 stars. My room wa situated on the first floor. Majority of rooms are single bed rooms (two single beds in a room). If you request, you will be provided with a room that will have a one big bed made of two single beds. Rooms are clean and have all basic facilities and necessities (flat screen TV, small fridge with mineral water (to be paid), fast Wi-Fi, shower, hair dryer, towels, shampoo, soap, etc.). Downstairs there is a small restaurant, where they serve breakfast (optional, not included in room price), lunch and dinner (Georgian cuisine), which are delicious. A big plate of Turkish breakfast made of scrambled eggs, cheese, olives, bread and honey will cost you 100 lei, which is roughly $5.60. Alcoholic drinks are served as well (local vine and cognac). Overall, good value for money in Comrat. Comrat is a small city of around 20,000 people and all facilities are pretty basic. If you keep this in mind, your stay in the city will be hassle-free.

Negative: No gym, but there is a step/bicycle machine in the corridor. :) Walls are not soundproof, so occassionally you might hear well what is going on in the adjasent rooms.

Summary: Good value for money.
