The wonderful property sits on 7 acres, amazing views, and ready for complete serenity. There is a walking path on the property that leads to Jim Creek. We are 6 miles from Speelyai Bay boat launch on Merwin Lake, a Kayak and paddle-board are available at the property for your use. The property is 30 minutes from Ape Caves, 1.5 hours from Lower Lewis Falls, and in close proximity to many other well known hiking trails. Regardless of the plan, you won't be able to help relaxing and enjoying the mountain views from the living room sofa, the patio, or enjoying the stars overhead in the evening.
There are three bedrooms and two bedrooms with a spacious living space. The bunk room is set up with a quiet reading nook, and toys for your kids. It also has a small television to play movies for the children too. The back patio has a small fire pit and BBQ. In the living room there is a big screen television over the fireplace, with wood available upon request.
The hideaway is just under 15 minutes from Woodland, located on I-5, which has the nearest grocery store. The property is 45 minutes from Portland International Airport, and one hour from downtown Portland. In just two hours you can be in downtown Seattle or the slopes of Mount Hood. For the climbers and adventurers it is just two hours from Windy Ridge on Mount St. Helens.
Whether the plan is relaxation, adventure, or a bit of both; the Elk Horn Hideaway is the perfect property for you to enjoy your time in the region.
We truly want you to enjoy your time and make some wonderful memories with your group. That being said, this is not a party or gathering house for groups that can't control their noise levels. We have relationships with all of our neighbors who have our direct contact information. Quiet time is 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. Please stay indoors during this time, keep the windows and doors closed and keep the volume to an enjoyable but reasonable level. If it is loud enough to be heard outside in these conditions, it is too loud for you to remain our guest. This property includes a noise alert monitoring system in order to ensure that neighborhood noise levels are respected. Again, please realize we want every group to enjoy their time, laugh, have fun and make memories. These devices are only to ensure noise levels don't reach a threshold that bothers our neighbors. Also, please note there is no electronic video surveillance monitoring pools or spas, or on the interior of the house.
PET FRIENDLY: **There is a $100 pet fee per pet with a maximum of $300 (3 pets). Although we are pet-friendly please note your pet must not be left unattended at the house without you present, even if in a crate/kennel. Failure to adhere to the house rules as it pertains to pets may result in cancellation of the booking with no refund. **

Summary: The moment we walked in was a feeling of peace. The surroundings and home quickly made us feel a sigh of relief and let us drop our hectic daily life. The house had everything we needed, from waffle maker to beautiful views. Closer to the lake than I thought. We would be happy to stay again and again.

Summary: Preface: I have VRBO'd about 20 times and have never left a negative review. We booked this property for 03/20 - 03/22, but left after being there for less than 30 minutes. We had to drive down to get a room in Cougar at Lone Fir last minute. Never got an apology for the terrible inconvenience and essentially ruined vacation My son and I went up for some spring break hiking from Texas. I am a physician and have to have access to Internet at all times for patient care. We arrived and the Internet did not work (wifi was actively connecting to devices via router after we entered password, but there was no internet service), so this was a dealbreaker. The comforter on the master bed was very wet, like maybe the preparation for our stay was rushed and whoever was getting it ready ran out of time. Also, like a previous reviewer mentioned, the Roku remote to the TV was not functional even if there had been internet. Lastly, there were absolutely no curtains or privacy blinds on ANY of the windows so we felt exposed. Needless to say, we had a very bad experience and would not recommend

Summary: Felt like our aunt’s family cabin, nothing fancy, clean and homey. Loved the views and space of the lawn. There are other lots but nothing bothersome and mostly alone with huge lot of acreage. We cooked breakfasts and had happy hours but otherwise went out to dinners. There’s nothing really close but was fine to head to town or a little farther down 5. Funnily enough the casino had a nice outdoor restaurant. Was a good location for day trips to the coast, to Mt St Helen’s (both sides) and to Portland, with a day just hanging out at the VRBO with the views. If you’re local, may want to throw in some comfy lawn chairs to better hang out outside. For us, having a quiet, low-key pretty home base for our vacation plans was just what we were looking for.

Summary: We loved our stay here. Checkin was smooth, the house was already cool from the A/C running, lots of privacy with trees and mountain views, mowed lawns. It was a quick drive to Cougar, and to the Lewis River Recreation Area, allowing us to get there early and beat the crowds to visit the waterfalls

Summary: Stayed to take trips to Oles, ape, and lake caves. Very fun. 45 min from caves, 20 minutes from wal mart. Big yard, fun for the kids. AC was very welcome and functional.

Summary: The house was old but clean and beds were comfy. Lots of old stuff and Knick knacks. Truly like going to your grandparents house. It’s kind of on the middle of nowhere so if you want privacy this is your spot. Property management company was very responsive and helpful.
