What Our Guests say 500 + Reviews

Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: This is a lovely location with a well-designed set-up (although the downstairs/third ensuite is squeezed in). The proximity to shops and wineries, along with the cute farm animals in an adjacent paddock, created a special and enjoyable family atmosphere. Further, a thoughtful selection of welcome goodies was provided.
Negative: It was very disappointing for our family (who used the whole of the homestead) to arrive at the property and find out that renovations were taking place. Although this only affects the outside of the property, workers arrived at 7:30am on the final two days of our stay (Monday and Tuesday), with drilling and construction noise ongoing. We were only advised of the renovations the day before arrival via the check-in information, which limited our ability to adjust plans. This disturbance was particularly challenging as we were travelling with a baby who required daytime naps, and the noise significantly disrupted our stay. It also meant that we weren’t able to enjoy walking around the whole property due to the western side being completely sectioned off. The photos show the extent of the renovations. The grand (outside) staircase no longer exists, and the western side of the property is a construction site. We certainly weren’t expecting this when looking at the photos on the website, the 5-star reviews, or, for the amount we paid. We were offered a discount for a future stay by the owner when bringing this to her attention, but as we don’t reside in South Australia, it is unlikely we will return in the next few years.
Summary: Not quite what we expected.

Positive: Great location and facilities but they did not tell us when booking that verandah was being rebuilt so not accessible, but that was one of two reasons for booking this place.
Negative: See above. Would haven't stayed elsewhere if we knew about no balcony, which was heavily promoted as an attraction. Also oven doesn't work.
Summary: Mixed feelings

Positive: Beautifully furnished. Spacious. Clean. Well appointed. Cute farm animals!
Negative: Open plan bathroom area (wash basin). No privacy. BBQ was not clean and unsuitable to use. Construction works spoilt view and not indicated on advertisement. Very steep slope to navigate if walking to and from village.
Summary: Beautiful homestead for adults and older children.

Positive: Excellent accommodation, that was better than we'd hoped for. The apartment was really big, with a full kitchen (complete with a basket of essentials - biscuits, coffee, milk, cereals). Its a short drive out of the town, but the views are great once you get up there. Would recommend to any group travelling who want a great nights stay

Positive: The place felt like home. On arrival we lounged around and enjoyed the company of the animals. The location was prime as it gave us opportunities to visit various suburbs, wineries and cafes. The shed itself was immaculate. Our favourite feature was the outdoor shower. The weather gave a cool breeze whilst the water ran warm. The bedding was clean and provided comfort. Washer/dryer availability for clothes was a plus. The hosts laid out options for breakfast and provided recommendations for food, drinks and activities close by. This will be a recommended for family and friends wanting to visit the Barossa Valley.
Negative: N/a
Summary: Comfortable, perfect for all seasons and a home away from home.
