Positive: Warm, elegant apartment that pairs well the modern with the ancient. Spacious with all the amenities a young professional person needs for a glimpse of a comfortable vacation stay.

Negative: The courtyard can get very noisy late at night and early in the morning, and the apartment building is not exactly soundproof either.

Positive: The location of this apartment is fantastic! It's on a quiet street right off one of the main streets leading to a large piazza. There are bars, restaurants, and shops within a 5-minute walk. It's easy to get to the major sites -- the various churches, the Duomo, the Ponte Coperto, as well as the University buildings. The apartment is located in a quiet building of what appears to be local residents (as opposed to other vacation rentals) and the building is very secure with a locked door to the street that enters into the courtyard and then another locked door to the stairwell that leads up to the apartment, and finally a locked apartment door. The bed and linens were comfortable and the windows had screens, which kept the flies out while the windows were open. (It's rare to find screens on windows in Italy, so this was a bonus!) The small kitchenette was stocked with coffee maker and some basic supplies -- sufficient for a short stay. The bathroom was modern and the shower had great water pressure, plenty of hot water, and didn't leak; there was also a washing machine which is very helpful when traveling for a long period of time. The host was helpful and responsive with a small issue we had when checking in.

Negative: The WiFi in this apartment was intermittent and did not work consistently for three of the days during our stay and when it did work it was extremely slow. In addition, our Italian cell service did not work inside the building. This meant that we had to go down to the local bar where we could access cell signal to check email, make dinner reservations, research the sites we wanted to see, and check train schedules. Very inconvenient. We weren't sure whether the weak WiFi was isolated to the apartment, or a problem with the building, or even the general area of Pavia. Regardless, it's something to be aware of when looking for a place to stay, especially if you need to work while on vacation or even if you just rely on accessing the internet to plan your day in Pavia. If the host were able to address this issue, we would recommend this charming apartment without hesitation.

Positive: Good location, functioning facilities, and everything is satisfactory. I stayed at the end of January. Thanks to the functioning heater, the room temperature is warm and comfortable.

Negative: The washroom drains were not so smooth. WiFi is slow but usable. Unlocking the street-side door is tricky. The trick is not to insert the key all the way in, but to pull it slightly towards you and turn it to the right.

Positive: The accommodation is large for a couple. It is within easy walking distance of all the main sites as well as the bus and train stations. The shower is good, the bed comfortable, and the room overlooks a courtyard and is quiet. The main feature of the accommodation is to be able to see the top of the Duomo from the bedroom. Niels is generous with the coffee pods (we did not use anything else).

Negative: Nothing.
