Positive: The location is great - it's on the edge of the old town, in a residential block, overlooking the sea, with an allotted parking space. It feels very safe. The apartment is very clean and well-maintained; and there is heating, which is needed 'out of season'. The reception on arrival from the host was warm and welcoming and it's straightforward to contact him if needed. It's a very short walk along the shore-line path or road to the town for restaurants and bars, and beyond to the 'more touristy' part of the town and the harbour; or in the other direction to Empuries and beyond, a beautiful short walk.
Negative: Nothing really.

Positive: Perfect apartment for our stay! The views are amazing and you can’t beat the location…walking distance to restaurants, grocery store, pastry shop and much more. The trail that leads to the Empùries is right in front of the apartment. David greeted us at the apartment, showing us the apartments designated parking spot (a must for this area!). His dinner recommendations were perfect too! Definitely recommend for your stay in L’Escala!!

Positive: The view is fantastic, the location excellent. The terrace and outdoor pool overlooking the sea are wonderful. The apartment is very clean, the furnishings are tasteful and, except for consumables, the apartment has everything you need (dishes, appliances, even a washing machine and a Nespresso coffee machine). David is a great host, very responsive and flexible.
Negative: With consumables/toiletries, we were surprised and disappointed. There is no shampoo or conditioner, no bath gel. There is no coffee, sugar, salt, oil, paper towels or napkins. No potholders. One roll of toilet paper. (There is laundry detergent for the washer and dish soap, at least.) The mattress in the primary bedroom is an inexpensive one, much too soft, that really hurt our backs. The radiators creak loudly, both in the bedroom and the living room. It's like having someone hammering incessantly. I rented the apartment through Booking.com, so I was surprised to see an instruction from the owner to leave the place clean and tidy. That's what I would have done anyway, because I'm that kind of person, but this isn't an AirBnB rental. We even had to make up our own bed, though we got to keep the cloth bag that the sheets were stored in.
Summary: Excellent location, fantastic views, great terrace, but the details matter
