Positive: It was easy to find the apartment, and it is walking distance to the center if you can walk a sustained 10-15 minutes (uphill to get back). The in-garage parking was extremely convenient, and there is an elevator from the garage to the apartment. However, the parking space is small and would not be appropriate for a big car. The apartment was pleasantly decorated and extremely well-equipped. The bottle of wine upon arrival was a nice touch.
Negative: The apartment is on a corner on one of the main axes for vehicles to get into the centre of Biarritz, so it is very noisy. The owner has made a valiant attempt to address this by installing two sets of double-glazed glass doors between the bedrooms and the balcony. But if it's so hot that if you have to sleep with the windows open that doesn't help. Also, the traffic is so loud sometimes that we actually had to pause conversations until certain vehicles went by when we were sitting out on the balcony. The bedroom with the double bed is so small that you cannot put a fan in there. It would greatly benefit from a ceiling fan. Because the apartment is quite compact, it would be worthwhile considering a more minimalist décor. We were afraid of breaking things accidentally. Be forewarned that you'll need to provide a security deposit by check or cash.

Positive: The location was really perfect. Bakery, big shopping store, restaurants, laundromat - all just a minute away. The house had everything you might need for your kitchen needs and mostly all the furniture was in good condition (although in one of the rooms curtains were a bit short and didn't cover the entire window). We were greated very nicely and were even given a bottle of rose wine as a greeting present.
Negative: There weren't any big issues, but one thing that could be improved are: - The soap dispensers were battery operated, and one of them was not charged which meant we couldn't wash our hands in one of the rooms. - For a stay of a week for a family of three we had just one toilet roll, one kitchen towel and one garbage bag. When we needed more, we were forced purchase it ourselves. - Cost to towels and sheets is expensive, especially since we only get one set per person for a week (and no beach towels) - When we were leaving the flat, we washed all the dishes, put everything into place, but the host was still super annoyed that we hadn't took garbage out of the apartment outselves before she came in and that we didn't clean the refrigerator from our food (lots of which was unopened and could be used by next guest) before she came in (even though it's not listed in house rules) and we were asked to throw out the garbage ourselves (which required us to make few trips by stairs to third floor because lift was broken) - Having to make the deposit in cash was super inconvenient, because we had to take out this money at a bad exchange rate before we arrived and now we are stuck with euros we don't need - Not a lot of electric sockets and some were broken - Slightly noisy at night - Two good fans, but still at night it was too hot. Air conditioning would have been preferable.
