Positive: Applewood Lodge is absolutely beautiful, and can't be faulted for comfort and the amenities. We loved the pool and hottub which were excellently maintained. Every bedroom having its own complete bathroom was great. The outdoor space like the balconies and barbecue area are fantastic to have too. Overall just a phenomenal place to stay.
Negative: A couple of things could have improved our stay, and made us feel a little more welcome. It would be nice to have shower gels in each bathroom, even basic ones. When you're travelling/on vacation that's something you may not have and feels a little like a basic amenity to have in an accommodation. For a more special arrival, a welcome basket with some basic grocery essentials like water, milk, sugar, coffee or tea would be good, because buying those things, especially for a short stay when you're travelling, is quite wasteful. A little guidebook of some local walks, restaurants, shops etc. you'd recommend would be a nice touch to help those from far afield! We used the barbecue for 1 hour and the gas tank ran empty (fortunately we'd finished).
Summary: The most beautiful lodge in an amazing peaceful location, with entertainment for everyone

Positive: I absolutely loved the location, it was close enough to all the activities, but far enough to get peace and quiet.
Negative: I wasn’t pleased about one of the bathrooms having a leak, and also discovering a bat in the pool area. It made it hard to really enjoy the pool and hot tub.
