Positive: This was an excellent ryokan experience. The location was great, right near all the shops in the Arima town. The staff is very welcoming, and the rooms are very comfortable. The food is incredible and authentically Japanese. And the baths were the best I've experienced in Japan. I stayed one night and visited the baths three times. It's really warm, and the water is rust-colored from the natural minerals in the volcanic hot spring. I felt relaxed and rejuvenated every time.

Positive: This place is absolutely gorgeous! It was our first time in a traditional ryokan-style hotel, and our family of 4 really enjoyed it. The hotel staff was very helpful and explained how everything works so we didn't have to guess. I ordered a dinner on our first night and it was so beautiful, from the food to the serving dishes. The service was impeccable as well! The breakfast was also absolutely gorgeous and delicious. I told them ahead of time about food restrictions (no beef, chicken, or pork), and they were very accommodating. The onsen was magical and our whole family used it several times. Will absolutely come back to this town next time I'm in the area. The bus station is a 2-minute walk to the hotel.
Negative: Although the food was amazing, we were absolutly stuffed with so much more food to spare! It was a bit excessive and wasteful in my opinion. That's my one and only complaint.

Positive: Location is super convenient for exploring the Arima onsen area. The hotel itself is a museum like atmosphere with rare historical value. The decorative pieces in the hotel are very artistic. Even the coasters are fine arts. Each room has unique names, which is poetic. The meals are flavorful. We had a relaxed time at the hotel. We like to give thanks from our hearts to all the staff. It's good to have you. Tocen Goshoboh is a traditional hotel that brings out the best of Arima onsen.
Negative: It's an old hotel the sound insulatlatin isn't the best. We were sleeping on futons, and we could feel the floor vibrates if people stepped too hard on the floor.
