Summary: Arrowhead Mountain Lodge was a very nice stay! The themed rooms were so fun, and it was very cozy and clean. There was a dirt road leading up the lodge which I didn't think was bad to drive on at all (we went in early September, though, so there was no snow). It was fun to see deer and elk on the road to the lodge. It was fairly close to the Black Canyon and to the Blue Mesa Reservoir.

Summary: The view was amazing. The lodge is in the moutains and lodge is very rustic. We loved it. Saw deer and tons of elk. It is very far from the closest town but the drive was beautiful. The only set back was their continental breakfast. The bread was molded and the coffee pot took very long to make one cup of coffee. The food was not fresh at all. We had to drive to town for breakfast on our way to do our activities. We had hoped to enjoy the surrounding area while eating our breakfast.

Summary: This quaint lodge may be more suited for wintertime … We didn’t mind the 5.5 mile dirt road trip up the mountain to find it … gps from the Montrose side took us right there. For me … that’s where the rustic charm began to fade a bit. They were understaffed. I waited to check in while a phone call from the clerk took precedence. There was NO A/C … just a fan in the window screen. This would not have been an issue since we came from our home @ 9300’ in Westcliffe, CO. However, there seemed to be a lot of road traffic until about 9 in the evening … and our ‘deluxe’ king was on the dirt road side. It was dusty. It was a bit noisy. I wanted to close the window, but would have had to move the fan and chance being too warm. We decided to eat dinner at the Lodge … they were severely understaffed. There was one young lady serving as both bartender and waitress. We wanted to eat outside so we asked to be served there. The dining room was filling up, so she told us she might not be able to deliver our food outdoors since she was the only one working. So, we carted our meals and drinks outside ourselves. The outdoor area was nice and family friendly. There were places to play yard games. We enjoyed that vibe. After our meal, we bussed our own ‘table’ and returned our plates and glasses inside. Two hamburgers and two beers were $40. We went to bed early. The bed was so hard my hips hurt lying on my side. So … I didn’t sleep. We left @ 5:30 the next morning …

Summary: Great property atop a mountain with a wonderful restaurant and bar and great outdoor space. The bed and pillows in our king suite were extremely comfortable and provided for a very quiet and restful night’s sleep. Fortunate for us, our one night stay turned into two nights thanks to a snowstorm blowing in overnight. We couldn’t ask for a cozier place to be snowed in.
