Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: The multi-story lobby, halls, elevators, and all the building facilities are lovely. There are three excellent baths, including a roof-top rotenburo, and the art distributed throughout the corridors is gorgeous. We found the ruins of the many hotels that closed in recent decades fascinating--very unusual town atmosphere.
Negative: This is an extremely large hotel, with very large and crowded buffets for breakfast and dinner. It is very well managed, but definitely not relaxing at meal-time. I was told there was no hotel bus to and from the station, so we took taxis. As we left I saw a schedule for the shuttle.
Summary: Huge but beautiful onsen hotel in a town with an interesting recent history.

Positive: The onsen's were lovely. Loved the roof top and the view. The room was beautiful!! Very peaceful.
Negative: The organ playing in the lobby was dated. Made the lobby sound like a funeral home. A piano or violin would improve the overall mood in the lobby. A shuttle from the train station would be an upgraded touch. Seeing the run down community, the vacant buildings and abandoned hotels is depressing. I suggest picking your guests up at the first train station in a shuttle.
Summary: Once at the facility it was calm, relaxing, and we really enjoyed the onsens.
