Positive: The city centre was within easy walking distance. This meant that, if you wished, you could pop back to your room during the day and then head out again. As the city is generally flat, it’s actually quite pleasant to walk a few streets past the hotel. Unless there’s a specific reason, there’s no need to use public transport or a taxi if you want to spend time in the city centre.

Negative: The area around the hotel is unpleasant. However, I’m not sure if there was real danger in terms of safety, as I saw plenty of police patrols in the vicinity and there were lots of CCTV cameras right in front of the hotel. Even so, I didn’t feel like going out late at night. The staff weren’t exactly going out of their way to be hospitable either. I don’t know, the hotel was quite busy, so perhaps that’s why they were tired.
