A short hike up the hill behind the home is rewarded with a panorama you'll never forget -- the Skellig Islands, the westernmost land in Europe; Ballinskelligs Bay, with the shimmering colors and lights of Waterville at its throat, and MacGillicuddy's Reeks, with Ireland's tallest peak.
ENJOY restaurants and pubs with traditional entertainment in Caherciveen, Portmagee, Valentia, Waterville, and Ballinskelligs. Nearby are the world-class Waterville Golf Links, blue flag beaches, magnificent walks, fresh and saltwater fishing, horseback riding, surfing, diving, and wind surfing.

Summary: The house is very small but there is everything what you need regarding kitchen, heating etc. Olga, the housekeeper has been very helpful in various ways and it is easy to get in touch with her. The sheep are delightful and it feels good to have this peaceful company around day and night. Beds are excellent for Irish standards.

Summary: My sister and I did a 3 week tour around all of Ireland. This was our third place to stay and the first time where we could sit back, relax and just enjoy our own space - perfect zen! While it poured rain all of one day, we didn't care as we sat in the sunroom, admired the view and listened to the sheep and cows. The location was great for doing the Ring of Kerry. We took a wonderful full day (10 hours!) tour and this was the perfect starting and ending place. You have to go to Skelligs chocolate factory nearby! It was wonderful to have a fully outfitted kitchen where I was able to cook our meals during our stay. I love to cook and fully appreciate this! Communication with the owner was really easy and they responded very quickly to all my questions. We didn't have any problem finding the place using our GPS with the geo coordinates. When your GPS says "leave the road on the right side" it just means you are entering the driveway. :-) I look forward to returning.

Summary: House is exactly as described in a beautiful country setting. Sheep with their lambs right outside the house. Views of mountains and the bay. Hiking trails and the ocean within a few minutes driving time. House was clean and well-stocked with supplies. We hope to return someday!

Summary: We loved Killbarly! The views around the property are stunning! It's quiet and peaceful-- the exact opposite of being in a city. The property manager always answered our calls and made sure we had everything we needed! We loved how it felt as if we were far away, but really only about 10 minutes from a grocery store!! It felt like we were staying in an Irish farm house - complete with sheep and a barn. It was exactly what we hoped to experience-- the kind of place that makes you feel as if you have slipped into another world-- Hope to visit again

Summary: Countryside is even quieter and more beautiful than I expected and the stars we saw on the cloud free night were amazing. It is truly working farmland and we enjoyed the sheep, many with newborn lambs, right next to the property. Peat burning fireplace was nice to unwind to in the evening. Overall the house was very comfortable and was as described. It's not without character--it is 70+ years old--but Daphney was extremely responsive to our questions. We will definitely consider staying again the next time we're in this part of Kerry.

Summary: The location of the property is great & the views from the conservatory over fields to the sea are fabulous. We were very disappointed with the general condition of the cottage; it was very scruffy around the edges and in need of maintenance. Reading the other reviews I do wonder if we stayed in the same cottage.

Summary: It's sad that this is such a nice place and location and the furniture is just pathetic. Wicker furniture in the sunroom is just okay...the furniture in the living room is disgusting and and unacceptable...we never sat there...old and musty... The location is wonderful and the amenities are fine...
