Positive: Lovely stay on the waterfront in Villa. Nice clean room, with good quality towels and bedlinen as well as a small fridge. Lovely omelette for breakfast. Very short walking distance to a few other bars and restaurants. No proper beach, but easy to get in the water from a strech of sand at the neighbouring property and from the jetty.

Positive: Very friendly personel. Hotel located in beautiful area - closeby to the ocean, with own pier and several restaurants just outside. Also - you need to ask Wilfred (the hotel's manager) for his fameous omlet. The best omlet i've ever had! I really hope to get back there.

Positive: Wonderful overnight stay at Basil at Villa, manager was very welcoming as were all the staff. Despite arriving quite late, we enjoyed a lovely meal at the venue. The rooms had air conditioning which was great and Netflixw as available on the TV. Wifi was good connection in the rooms

Positive: The hotel is in a prime location just facing Young Island, with wonderful views on every side of the garden / restaurant, direct access to the sea broadwalk. Everything is new, in fact I believe the hotel is altogether new. The room (Junior Suite) is quite spacey, when I arrived everything was in pristine condition: super clean sheets, linen, towels, floors. The closet is big, with lots of drawers, there is a large desk that can double as dining table, with lots of drawers as well, the mattress is comfy, as well as the pillows, I slept super well. The bathroom is nice, large enough, the water pressure in the shower is fantastic, I enjoyed the showers there with a window (that can get opened to let the steam out) overlooking some palm trees in the graden. The A/C works pretty well, there is a tiny fridge with an even tinier freezer, but enough to get some ice (you get the plastic ice cube thingies or molds inside). You get two bottles of cold water (in the fridge) when you arrived, they are like a lifesaver. I stayed at the Junior Suite with a balcony (highly recommended), where you can spend nice long hours watching sunset or relaxing in the mornings. The restaurant has fairly good options for breakfast and lunch/dinner, not many options, but good ones, the bar has lots of drinks to offer. Prices are a bit on the high end for local standards, but quite reasonable considering you are eating at a veranda surrounded by gardens in front of the sea, and the food is good. I had a nice Thai curry twice, mild in spiciness, but with the right mix of ingredients, a winner.
Negative: It is challenging to understand the restaurant working hours, especially for breakfast ... My next complaint has to do with the standard of service, it is not a minor issue. The hotel is new, most of the staff work hard, are friendly and informative. The cleaner is also friendly, but in general they lack training. I had two problems: (i) my room not was cleaned for two days, because I left late. There is a lack of standards and training of the personnel, that is somewhat easy to sort out; (ii) the second problem was a bit more serious, and offensive to me. I went down to the restaurant for dinner, took a menu from the bar, and someone came yelling at me very loud and aggressively asking me to get out of the bar. Last night the bar tender asked me to take the menu from there to check what I wanted to order, so I had no idea that was forbidden. When I asked the guy why was he yelling at me, he said I was not supposed to be in the bar, that it is off limits, that I was not allowed to touch anything there. He was aggressive, angry and at some point I actually feared he would attack me. I was in total disadvantage, his colleague was also a bit scared, and did not react, he went on drying his cups, but there was no supervisor to report him, there is never a supervisor in the hotel. I told him that you need to go across the bar to get into the veranda, he said (still yelling) that I could walk across the bar, but not touch anything. He pointed to a table and said "sit there, and I will bring you the menu", it was like a military command. He was terribly rude. He came back to give me the menu, he was considerably more calm, and explained me (yet again but in a nicer tone) not to get into the bar again. But he never apologized, and I didn't feel confident enough to ask for an apology, as I said I was in total disadvantage. No CCTV or any accountability.
