Wonderful sandy beachfront, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, sleeps up to 4. This cottage is beautiful and private with one of the best beaches in the area! Close ride to town (Mackinaw City) and a bike ride away from Wilderness State Park.
The cottage was designed with comfort in mind and looks like it's right off the pages of Cottage Living Magazine! It features 2 bedrooms and has everything you need to make your vacation enjoyable. The kitchen has an electric glass top stove and a full size refrigerator as well as all the pots, pans and cooking utensils you need to prepare your meals onsite. There is a lovely table and chairs in front of the large windows facing the lake or take your meals out on the beach. We have provided top of the line Williams Sonoma kitchen appliances, a custom bathroom with walk-in shower and on demand hot water, a washer and dryer, king size bed in master bedroom with double closet, twin bed with trundle in second bedroom.
The cottage is decorated throughout with Pottery Barn furniture, tableware, dishes and glassware.
Be sure to visit the quaint Cecil Bay Trading Co. (walking distance) which carries most grocery/fishing necessities but they also rent kayaks and bikes AND have ice cream and freshly made pastries.
Although the cottage is away from the hustle and bustle of Mackinaw City, it is a short 15 minute drive to get there. Shop, dine or enjoy some famous Mackinac fudge or a fresh churned ice cream cone.
They say "location is everything" and you won't find a better location to enjoy all that Northern Michigan has to offer.
If you are interested in star-gazing, the night sky over Lake Michigan is beautiful. You can also drive 10 minutes to the Headlands - designated as a 'DARK SKY PRESERVE' - one of only a few locations in the USA! This is given to a few special areas that are free of artificial light. The night sky is breathtakingly beautiful!
In the spring, birdwatchers gather from all over the country to catch a glimpse of the incredible hawk migration. Historic Fort Michilimackinac and the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse, McGulpin Point Lighthouse and the ferry docks to Mackinac Island - are all minutes away.
In the fall, take the color tour through the "tunnel of trees" or enjoy spectacular scenery in the Upper Peninsula, an easy drive across the mighty Mackinac Bridge. There's nothing quite like the sound of bugling elks during mating season at Pigeon River or the mysterious call of the loon on a quiet lake. It's all here! Hunt, fish, hike, canoe, bike - you can do it all or you can just relax with a good book. There is something for everyone here.

Coming to beautiful Northern Michigan includes the possibility of wildlife encounters. We have midges, spiders, mosquitos, occasionally black flies and an assortment of other insects. We spray regularly to keep them at a manageble level but we also don't want to damage the fragile ecosystem here. Note that where there is water, there will be spiders. They are very industrious and can build back a knocked down web within a day!
They are also great for controlling mosquitos and wasps, which we appreciate.
We treasure the wildness of the North and perhaps that is what attracts you.
Consider yourself lucky if you catch a glimpse of any of our other wild neighbors - black bear, wolves, deer, elk, coyote, fox, bobcats, porcupine, skunks, raccoons, eagles, hawks, squirrels, chipmunks and mice as well as a massive variety of birds.

Summary: The house and beach are beautiful such a cute setting open floor plan and close to shops and Sheppler’s ferry to get to Mackinac Island.The only thing we didn’t realize is May is the season for midge flies. They were pretty prominent.

Summary: Our stay was over Labor Day weekend 2024. I researched high and low temperatures for the time of year. On our stay it never exceeded 75° and we were very comfortable. I was prepared to clean upon arrival but there was absolutely no need to do so! We cooked every day and had sufficient kitchen tools to do the job. The counter space is pretty limited but I was able to make it work. Beautiful fox in the tall grass entertained us briefly in the morning and evening. The ecosystem is spectacular. I was happy to be a caregiver. I walk away from the vacation reminded of how I can do better here in my own home. There is a public beach right down the road. You can take a nice walk here. There are rocks at one end. We did not need to go to the Dark Skies Park. We sat on the beach and moved the chairs to block the neighbors outdoor light. No big deal. Wilderness State Park is worth a visit and one of the reasons we chose this location. You can rent a kayak right down the street, walk across the street to a creek to launch the kayak and navigate it to the sandy deach in front of the home. The location is only 15 minutes from Mackinaw City and tons of fudge! Our vacation was perfect. Property manager was extremely receptive. We had a brief power outage one night because a post had been knocked down in the county. The utility was quickly called on our behalf. It was actually kind of fun not to have power for a while! I definitely recommend this location.

Summary: I stayed here with my husband and two young children. The house was perfect for the four of us - cozy, comfortable and enough space. It was also pristine when we arrived. The pictures in the listing are appealing but the house is even more adorable in person. The views of the lake are spectacular, and being able to take just a few steps to get to the water was wonderful. The area around the house is secluded and peaceful, but Mackinaw City is just a short drive (about 10 minutes), making it easy to go out to eat, etc. This house is a real gem for anyone wanting a lake getaway.

Summary: My wife and I spent 5 nights with our 2 small children. The house was beyond perfect! The view, the beach, the space were exactly what we needed. The owners do an amazing job setting up a space with such tranquility and beauty. We will definitely be coming back!

Summary: This place was a great retreat for us. The only drawback is no air conditioning. The cool night air and a fan helped though. The location and property were excellent. Also there isn’t a curtain in the bathroom. Probably don’t need it but it was a bit strange. We would stay again for sure.

Summary: We came for a relaxing weekend getaway and that’s just what we received. The cottage was clean, perfect size, and the view to the lake was stunning. We didn’t utilize much in the way of cooking, but it appeared to be very well outfitted. I’m always nervous when booking site unseen, but in today’s world that’s the norm. Thanks to other’s reviews, we ended up with a lovely place to unwind.
