Welcome to Barefoot Lodge! A family-sized cabin with open concept kitchen and living rooms, vaulted ceiling exposing the original cabin, and cedar plank walls. You'll love the stunning views of Lake Michigan from the large picture windows or back deck and relaxing sound of the waves lapping onto shore.
The lake shoreline changes often and while it is usually sandy, there can be bouts of rocks, but don't let this deter you! This beachfront is perfect for kids with shallow water extending a lengthy way out from the shoreline. And, perfect for the evening bonfires and nighttime stargazing!
There is a smart TV that can hook up to a phone hotspot so you can log in to your favorite app for streaming shows. We currently do not have WIFI internet or cable/satellite.
The main bedroom with a king size bed is lakeside to fully capture the spectacular sunrises. The second room is two queen beds and third is two twin beds. The bathroom is spacious and includes a large capacity washer and dryer. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, utensils, and commonly used small appliances and a dishwasher. The massive table easily fits 8 people for meal-time gathering and sharing memories.
This home is also perfect for any boaters and/or fishing enthusiasts, as it's about 1/4 mile from Cedar River State Harbor open early May to mid-September where you can launch and dock your boat (see state website for more details and www.midnrreservations.com for harbor reservations). The harbor has long term or day use dockage, a bike rental, fishing pier, dog run, ice for sale, and vending machines.
The house is also about a mile from a gas station with mini-mart that serves breakfast & lunch, the Halfway Bar & Grill, and the Cedar River for more fishing!
Cedar River is halfway between Marinette, WI and Escanaba, MI--approximately 35 min to either.

Summary: We stayed over the Thanksgiving weekend. The new appliances and ample cookware were really helpful! The beach and access to the Bay were amazing for morning, afternoon, and evening walks. Overall we had a great experience and hope to come back soon.

Summary: Owner was very responsive when contacted. The cabin is a lovely, comfortable, very clean getaway steps from the lake. The cabin was well stocked with everything one would need. We’d definitely book it again.

Summary: We enjoyed walking the beach, and the great view right out the cabin windows! Very easy to find the property. We had a good meal at a local restaurant. Hostess was very responsive. Kitchen was well stocked.

Summary: Upon arrival, everything was squeaky clean and exactly as described. The beach was so fun and we had a great time. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen we'd stayed in and we wanted for nothing. The host was always easy to get a hold of if we needed anything. The beds were all comfortable and we loved listening to the waves each evening. We loved the location. It was quiet and the stars were out of this world. Highly recommend.

Summary: We spent a much needed, relaxing week at the cabin. There was no internet, spotty cell service....which was just what we needed to unplug and take in the view and sounds of the lake. While the location is somewhat remote, we were able to explore nearby waterfalls, Pictured Rocks, shops in Manistique and Marquette, and more. The cabin had everything we needed to prepare meals, enjoy sunny days on the deck, and cool evenings around the fire. We would definitely recommend.

Summary: Everything was just as described. Quiet beach-front cottage, steps from the water and friendly neighbors. Plenty of room, comfortable beds, all the needed supplies. We had great nightly outdoor fires right near the water. We loved hearing the waves at night while going to sleep. Plenty of things to do, golf, fish, boat or picnic. The place is off the beaten path but everything needed within a 25min drive. We very much enjoyed out stay and would happily return.

Summary: I needed a stay that surrounded me with waves and quiet. I was able to find the location easily. Parking the car I walked up to the back of the house and there is the beach and the beautiful lake. Instantly I knew this was perfect. Entering the house I opened the windows and I could hear the waves throughout the house. It was a bit hot yet a very nice breeze. My first nights sleep in the amazing master bedroom was comfortable and I fell asleep with the waves right from the window. I swear I had not slept that well in at least 2 years. Morning sunrise greeted with the sounds of nature was a moment of calm. I discovered the electricity was off but it was only because of the storms the day before. The host immediately responded and and even offered to buy me breakfast and coffee. This wasn’t her fault though and she contacted the city right away. Very responsive and helpful. Electricity back on after only an hour. This is a beautiful gem of property. The pictures are exact. Beach is clean and just steps away from the deck. I was able to drive away on my last day refreshed and renewed from months of stress. I love this place and the host was kind and very responsive.
