Summary: What a gem! It was a perfect place for us to bring our mom to relive days of vacationing in the UP! It was cozy yet enough space for us to have our own time. The kyaks and boats were so fun to help explore the shallow waters!

Summary: Our time here was amazing, we didn't want to leave! On our last day we sat on the dock to get one more glance of the beautiful view. It is in a perfect location to see many different sites. It was also perfect for swimming and just enjoying the outdoors.

Summary: We had an awesome stay at The Westender! The cabin had everything we needed for a great stay! It is close enough to essentials but yet very secluded! We were able to take day trips to Sault St. Marie and Mackinaw City and still have time at the cabin to canoe, kayak, and fish! We had campfires by the water each night and spent the majority of our time on the dock, in the boat house, and on the beach! It was a perfect spot for our group of 10 (5 kids aged 4-10 and 5 adults)! I highly recommend this property!

Summary: Our family of five plus dog loved our time in Hessel. We used the kayaks to explore the pristine water and enjoyed dinner in the dock house. The house was clean and kitchen stocked with what we needed. Kids spent their time playing on the beach and the dog had fun chasing the ducks.

Summary: The cottage was perfect! We loved spending long evenings in the boathouse, kayaking and canoeing, and just relaxing and taking in the view. Would definitely come back!

Summary: Repeat renter here. This is our third stay at the Westender. Had a great time. Utilized the dock house this time renting a pontoon. Overall everyone enjoyed the property.

Summary: It was a great and beautiful place to stay. They had all the supplies for the kitchen and for the dinning room because our family loves to cook. There were extra beddings, if needed. The owner had great communication and was on call for anything.

Summary: Very nice vacation spot. House was very nice. Amenities were good with 4 kayaks included. Views were beautiful. Beds were comfortable. A few items were in need of improvement such as 1 of the 4 stove burners (electric) was not working. Door between garage and living space is not an exterior door so gas fumes were coming into the house from the garage. But the property manager directed us to seal this up with duct tape and a garbage bag so this greatly reduced the problem. Signs of mice in one of the bathroom closets (sprung trap and mouse droppings) so be aware of this. This is why 4 stars instead of 5.

Summary: Easy to find cabin with a great location. This property is a standout gem even amongst other lake front rentals. Check out the nearby Bush Bay Scenic Overlook on Google maps for one of my personal favorite hiking trails in all of Michigan.
