Spacious, year round lake home on beautiful Big Sandy Lake in Northern Minnesota. Our cabin is located in a private setting positioned on the north shore of Big Sandy. Lake home is located just north of McGregor, Minnesota, conveniently 2-2.5 hours north of the Twin Cities.
This is a 2 level home with 3 spacious bedrooms and 4 bathrooms that comfortably sleeps 8. It has a fully equipped kitchen, large dining room table and open living room. The large master bedroom with on suite is located on the main level and walks out onto a spacious deck with 2 loungers over looking the lake. On the lower level is another living room, large sunken bar with lake views, 2 more roomy bedrooms and 2 more bathrooms (one is an on suite). From the lower level you can access a huge stone patio with 2 gas grills, a table and chairs, loungers and a fire pit (*lower level wood burning fireplace is not for guest use). The patio has beautiful views of the lake.
There are hand laid stone stairs or an electric tram to bring you down to the lake. We have a dock you can tie your boat up to, but we do not rent out our boat. There are a couple of places that rent boats in our area. However, we do have 2 kayaks and a paddle board for your enjoyment. The lakeshore has a sandy bottom and is perfect for swimming.
This amazing region is incredibly beautiful, awe-inspiring and is loaded with unique and fun activities and adventures. You can swim, fish, bike, canoe, boat, eat in or out, golf, shop, snowmobile, ATV, plus see wildlife views throughout expansive public parks and land.
Big Sandy Lake is an amazing size lake at just over 6,500 acres. It's big enough to water ski, tube, jet-ski, fish, etc. It is clean, sandy and loaded with fish. It also has a sandbar for recreation during hot summer days, as well as 6 restaurants and bars that are accessible by boat.
This cabin is perfect for a family-fun filled getaway anytime of year!

Summary: Held a family get together to celebrate a very special birthday ~ very clean, plenty of room to host, well-appointed in/out all the way around, lovely property and lake view, great patio for nightly fire pit with plenty of stocked firewood provided. Excellent fishing on this side of lake, and close to many local favorites.

Summary: We have rented this property for 4 years in a row for our annual girls’ trip which includes anywhere from 8-12 women-we always have a great time, have everything we need, and LOVE the lake and property.

Summary: This property is beautiful, very clean, and property owners provided many supplies you usually need to bring when renting a which was a huge bonus (paper products, coffee, some spices and cooking supplies, bug spray, laundry soap, etc). This was a perfect property for our large 3 family group (10 people - 6 adults - 2 teens - 2 toddlers under 3). Only concern that families with toddlers (under 3) need to know is that there is a very steep cliff in the backyard. We had 2 people watching the youngest at all times outside.

Summary: The property was as described, very clean and has a wonderful view of the lake. The home is very spacious and nice. The bedding and towels were very plush/new and the pillows and blankets were nice, as expected for a nice rental such as this. The kitchen was very well equipment and the appliances were very nice! The owners had plenty of paper products on hand, plus Ziploc bags, extra soaps, laundry detergent, etc. It was nice not to have to pack so much. They really have the home equipped for use. Owners were very communicative and allowed an early check in as it was December 24th, which we appreciated. They kept us informed on the snow removal (we got a lot of it, and it was cold.) The only disappointing thing was that we could not use the wood fireplace. I can understand it, but we had hoped to have a nice wood fire. The gas fireplaces worked well as a substitute. The warm garage was nice to use over the holidays. We didn't get the enjoy the lake but it looks like a great place to vacation in the summer. This property felt very homey, and we enjoyed it very much! I highly recommend this property and the owners who were very approachable and helpful.

Summary: This lake house is the MOST stunning lake house we have stayed at yet! We have rented a VRBO every summer on a lake and this one blessed beyond all others! It is beautifully decorated!! It was very clean and neat from top to bottom. Plenty of room for all of us to stay and have amazing time together but also have alone space if needed. The back patio area is awesome for yard games, fire, hanging out. Off the primary bedroom there is a patio where every morning I had my coffee and quiet time. The beds were very comfortable. Home had everything you would need or imagine. Kitchen fully equipped to make amazing meals. We also grilled a lot. Big Sandy lake was awesome! Nice and big and deep enough to do all our water sports. We brought our boat and rented sea doo’s and the accommodations worked well for those. They have a place for one boat to get tied up and then we just took the sea food out each night and put in in the morning, but the boat launch is very close to their home. We then anchored the sea doo’s in the day when we were going in and out riding. The lake is not busy so it was awesome cause we weren’t fighting traffic or waves. We visited 3 resorts on the lake so easy to get gas or get a drink/food if want to. We brought games from home but they also provide some. We LOVED their cute bar area downstairs super great space. They have surround sound throughout their house and even on the back patio which was awesome as we love to listen to music. Robin and Trevor were super responsive when we had a question and amazing to work with. It was absolutely one of our best weeks! Thank you Robin and Trevor for opening up your beautiful home to us! We had the BEST week of our lives and made some amazing family memories!

Summary: Excellent view. Represented well. Can be a little tough with your own boat with strong winds. No boat lift available. Used a lot of floats to protect the boat.

Summary: We only stayed for three nights would’ve loved to stay longer but it was a last minute trip and that was the only availability we could find. The house is fabulous, super clean and the owners are wonderful we are going to stay again next year - highly recommended!
