Uitsig Cottage is situated in a 'fynbos' indigenous garden bordering 'Table Mountain National Park'
Easy, short walk to Glen Cairn beach and tidal pool, supermarket, restaurants and train station.
The Historic Naval town of Simonstown is 5 kms away by car, where you can swim with the Penguins at Boulders, boat trips or browse in the unique shops in town.
Visit the Fishing village of Kalk Bay, with its active fish market and great restaurants.
There are 2 Golf courses with in 10 km, go horse riding on Noordhoek beach or learn to dive and surf.
Glencairn has its own wetland, for birds lovers and there are hiking trails in the mountains.
Alternatively simply relax on your veranda or by the pool, enjoying the sound of the waves and the sea.
Transfers are easily arranged as well as Uber that's active in our area.

Summary: Yvonne and Helmo were wonderful host the views were fantastic, Solo the dog was very friendly and would seat with us in afternoons. Dixies restaurant was very good . All the suggestions Helmo gave us where on point. Thank you so much

Summary: We enjoyed our stay at Uitsig Cottage on the hillside of Glenridge Heights. The compact and homely cottage met all our needs. Everything from the panoramic views of False bay, the mountains and the beach with the train rattling along the edge, to the large fynbos garden are delightful. We certainly recommend this accommodation and would love to stay again if we come back to South Africa

Summary: I stayed here for seven nights and found it very peaceful and restful. With expansive views, this perfectly equipped cottage was a wonderful place to rest from the rigors of travel. I did not have a vehicle but had no problem getting around with UBER. The nearby seaside villages are delightful and the penguins are endlessly entertaining.

Summary: We had a wonderful two weeks at this cottage near Simon's Town. It is far enough away from central Cape Town to make one feel free of the hustle, bustle, and crowdedness of the city. But still it's close enough to take in all the sights and activities that this location has to offer. The picture window toward the bay offers a spectacular view and is better than watching television. Yvonne and Helmo are very accommodating and caring hosts, ready to help with any questions or logistical challenge. The train stops at Glencairn station nearby and we used it several times to travel up and down the coast to the other towns. Unfortunately, we had so many people start warning us about "bad guys" on the train that we started to have concerns about riding it. But that never stopped us, as supposedly the crimes are mostly taking place north of Muizenberg. We wavered between 4 stars and 5 stars, but finally settled on four for the following reasons: 1) there is a severe water shortage in the area so we felt limited as to how much water we could use for showering and flushing (not any fault of the hosts); 2) we walked a lot into town, to the train station, and to the nearby restaurants and the climbs to get back up to the cottage were a little challenging; and 3) we would have preferred anything from a normal bed to queen size to a kingsize rather than two twin beds pushed together. Our two weeks at this magical place flew by.

Summary: Had a great week here. Yvonne was wonderful. She was very helpful and supportive when we had an issue with our car rental. Very knowledgable about the area and South Africa in general. Beautiful gardens and close to many of the places we wanted to see. The electric blankets were a bonus!

Summary: We spent another wonderful month at Utsig Cottage. The cottage has a wonderful location and fits our needs perfectly. It has an incredible view from the spacious outdoor deck and pool area. The cottage is extremely clean and well maintained. Yvonne and Helmo are just the best hosts - what more can I say! There is no other place in Cape Town that we would ever consider staying.

Summary: We found ourselves completely at home at Uitzig. Waking up each day with an incredible view was stunning and Helmo and Yvonne were warm friendly and met every wish we wanted. The cottage is clean, well equipped and in a excellent location. We will be back for another amazing experience.
