Lovely 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath Gascogne home set upon a 5 acre lot on the outskirts of one France's most beautiful medieval Bastides in deep Southwestern France. Come and enjoy Gascony and its wonderful foods, wines and festivals, without the crowds of other regions. Apple and plum trees on the property provide bountiful fresh fruit (which the local deer love to enjoy!) and which make for wonderful pies and jams. Centrally located and close to many diversions and distractions including 1.5 hours from Bordeaux, 1 hour from Pau, 1.5 hours to the Pyrenees, 1 hour to Mimizan beach, 70 KM to Marciac and its renowned Jazz Fest, 50KM from 3 Michelin star rated restaurant and hotel, 2 hours from St. Emilion and Bergerac, and a host of other sites and attractions. If you simply want to relax with friends or family, this home has enough space for all and can accommodate the largest families comfortably. Summary: We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Pomanté. We were a group of 5 adults and had a lot of space - the house is quite a tardis. It felt palatial, like something from a fairy tale - even better than the online photos. It's beautifully & tastefully decorated, and is a real home from home. It's well equipped with everything you should need for your stay. Outside, there are many places to sit in the garden with pretty flowers all around. The pool is saltwater, rather than chlorine, which is a lovely touch. It feels much more natural. Inside is open plan and huge with lots of different areas set out for seating & socialising. It manages to stay cool inside, even when the sun's been out all day. On the ground floor, the master bedroom & ensuite bathroom are also huge with a small 'office' upstairs. Three other bedrooms and 2 shower rooms are upstairs. They are smaller but beautifully decorated. It's worth noting that two of the upstairs bedrooms have sloping roofs, so won't suit everyone. The local village is less than a 15 min walk away and is stunning - full of pretty medieval houses. It's a very quiet village with a few restaurants. Only the pizzeria is open late and best to book in advance. Thanks to Tristan who opened up his beautiful family home and provided many recommendations. I'd recommend a visit to Pomanté to anyone who wants to get away from it all & live in rural luxury for a while.

Summary: This house more than exceeded our expectations. It has everything one needs, is located in a wonderful corner of France and to top it off, the pool and the relaxing surroundings draw you in and don't let you go. We originally chose the house because the prices along the coast we too high. We figured we could take day trips from this quiet corner of France to more popular destinations and use the pool when need be. Instead we spent all of our time touring villages in the area and poolside. An amazing, relaxing vacation. With four bedrooms, this house easily accommodated two families. The spaciousness gave us the sense of freedom one sometimes needs when sharing a house with others. Finally, we only skimmed the surface of what this area has to offer. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation, where everything you need as at your fingertips, you can do no better than this property.
