Private 2 story riverside home with a large Common area including a pool table, wood stove and kitchen. relax on the second story deck overlooking the San Saba River . Wildlife on property includes whitetail deer, birds, racoons, turkey and much more.
We Do not at the time have TV or internet. This is a very peaceful setting and have not needed it.

Summary: Thanks for sharing your place with us, it was a perfect place for us to get together and celebrate with family and friends. This is a great spot to get away and spend quality time and get away from the business of life. You sit around the fire pit sharing stories of good times had and make new memories. We loved our time at this place. It’s one of our favorite spots.

Summary: Our team of therapists and social workers stayed at this property to provide support and disaster behavioral health to families with children impacted by a recent critical incident in a nearby community. Blake was very welcoming and thoughtful in leaving us a card with snacks and self-care items for our team. The house is fully equipped and very well cared for. Rustic design, cozy clean rooms, private, calm, spacious with nice ambience. Great location for the work we were doing in Menard. It created an oasis or retreat for out team after a long work day to relax, eat and swim at the river. The bathrooms were very clean but water comes from well so it a bit smelly, but some water bottle was available. The cabins we rented were perfect with bathrooms and small kitchens. The house is perfect for a large family. It really has lots of beds, room, shade & amenities. Cell phone signal allowed us to use our mobile wifi even though there was no internet signal to connect to work. If you look for a perfect retreat, hospitable, clean with a very supportive host, this is the perfect house to stay. It really is the best Vrbo that I have stayed and I have traveled a lot for work. My entire team of all generations loved it. (mid 20's to mid 50's). The first floor gives such an amazing place for gathering as a family or group, cooking, playing games, talking, cooling off in the heat of the summer. Blake responded promptly when we could not figure out how to turn on the oven and responded to our questions when we were booking. The outdoors area is excellent with many things to do; we wished we stayed longer for a short vacation after a long week of intense work and use some of the kayaks and smoke BBQ kitchen outdoors. I will recommend this for big families looking for a great family get away without technology, or for a business trip of a big team. It's about 10 minutes drive to downtown Menard, but next to San Saba river with all sorts of equipment to enjoy the river privately. The early mornings are a dream looking at the sun coming out from the upper balcony or seating on the outdoor chairs with a good breeze in the Texas Summer heat. In the morning, you will be visited by many animals walking around the property or across the river: deer, squirrels, goats, skunks and many birds singing. It was beautiful. The team loved the sunset and afternoons in the river. I can only say good things about this property and its host. Amazing value!

Summary: Awesome time! We swam, we fished, we cooked out, sang karaoke and danced barefoot in the grass. The Duncan family thought of EVERYTHING! Anything you might need on your trip is readily available. Razors, toothpaste, shampoo, coffee and creamer, towels, throw blankets, board games, life jackets and tubes.. they even provided smores! Awesome!!!

Summary: Once a year we do the Ft McKavett Cemetary Cleanup.. it was great finding a place to accommodate all our family.. the place was at a great location.. the house was very roomy,clean & accommodating to our bunch.. beds were comfy..kitchen/dinning area were excellant...The river was beatiful.. we did fishing and just lounging around.. The extra cabins were cute & comfy as well... The host Blake Duncan was awesome & communication was on point..I'd highly recommend this slice of heaven.. we will be back!!
