Summary: Rod the owner was very nice and accommodating to a request we made. House was clean and had just about everything you could need. The enclosed porch was great to sit in and gaze at the lake in the evening. Only downside was the lake is very small, didn't really need the pontoon as it took less than 10 min. to go around. Would be great for fishing though. All and all nice place!

Summary: We truly enjoyed are stay. We caught many fish. The pontoon was just right for fishing. The people we did have contact with on the lake was friendly and helpful. Rodney and Jim were very nice and helpful with any questions or fix anything we had concerns about. The house was clean and so many fans to keep things cool. There was air but it was nice to run the fans sometimes. And quiet, so peaceful! This home it at the end of the road and the neighbors to the west was some distance away. Thank you for sharing your home!,

Summary: The property was great but we needed to leave early because we could not get phone access with the cell phone service program we had. The closest phone access was over 10 miles away and with poor reception. With a family emergency we neded this contact in order to complete our scheduled stay.

Summary: Nicely appointed kitchen and had everything we needed. If you want to be on the water or fish, pay the extra for the john boat- that was worth it. We caught tons of fish, mostly bass, and the trolling motor is perfect for this smaller lake. In the evening, we heard and saw cranes. Had a fire in the firepit and that was so relaxing. Main bedroom mattress and living room sofa need replacing as they're both very uncomfortable. The one next to the sliding glass door is far more comfortable but that one's facing the smaller tv in the play-area. Most of the games there were missing parts/pieces so couldn't be used. We were able to play Trouble- first time since childhood, lol- and I'd brought a deck of cards so there was that. The sunroom facing the lake is wonderful for its view and we loved having our breakfast there. One morning was super-foggy and it was just gorgeous. We had fun playing foosball and if you bring kids they have air hockey, basketball, darts, a paddle boat, and a canoe- so lots to do. On the first night I was having the allergy symptoms I get when I'm around a cat. In the morning, my eyes were so swollen & my chest was tight. I was glad I'd brought our own pillows & my allergy pills. Had to take one every day. I decided to check the furnace filter and OMG, it was absolutely filthy- caked with dust and crap- worst I've ever seen. So we turned off the system and went looking for a hardware store. We replaced the filter & I cleaned the dust from the louvered doors in front of the furnace. When we left, I'd cleaned everything and we left it as we found it other than the back room needing a vacuuming from the bits of grass that get tracked in. I had removed their sheets, folded them, replaced with our own, and then re-made the bed before we left. Kitchen was spotless and everything washed and put away. I wiped down surfaces we never touched that were dirty. No part of the cleaning fee was returned. So if you stay here- you're paying for someone to clean it. Don't make my mistake and do it for them. Relax and leave your mess. If I saw that the mattress and sofa get replaced, we'd definitely stay again. Oh, if you go to Dowagiac, their downtown is lovely. We can highly recommend Zeke's restaurant. They mix a great drink and their burgers and onion rings are great.

Summary: This is a nice little cottage with basic necessities on a very quiet, small lake. If you’re looking for quiet and secluded, this is for you. We stayed for 4 nights and brought our own kayaks and we were glad we did. We didn’t feel the rental boats would’ve been worth the money for the size of the lake. The use of the canoe and peddle boat were nice additions, but the peddle boat fills with water by the peddles if you have more than 1 person in it. We had to have just one person sit in the middle and peddle both sides to avoid water leakage. Rod was there to welcome us within an hour of our arrival and to see if we had questions, and he was quick to repair an issue we had our first day there. The cottage was outdated but very clean and we especially enjoyed the back sun porch where we ate meals and played games (LOTS of games available.) I agree that the queen bed needs a new mattress pad, but the memory foam topper on it was nice. Please take note of these things: if you want to grill, bring your own charcoal or propane ( grill uses either) as Rod does not provide this and does not state this in the property details. Also bring your own firewood and s’mores/hobo pie sticks. There also was only one kitchen hand towel and 2 bath towels provided. There were no extra towels, nor extra blankets available for the beds if you’re cold. We had to cover up with our beach towels. I would recommend the guests bring these items, but even more so, for Rod to add these items for guest convenience and satisfaction as I’ve never stayed in a rental property that did not have extra towels and blankets. Also bring dvds as DVD players are there, but only vhs tapes are available (no vhs player that we saw.) Shower does not get hot either; only warm water. Washer/dryer are available, but a sign on it tells guest not to use them. Other items not provided were a whisk, an electric hand mixer, plastic kitchen containers with lids for food storage, cooking spray, Black pepper, spices. A more well-stocked kitchen with these pretty basic amenities would’ve been nice for certain items we cooked/baked. We did venture out to play on nearby Diamond Lake one day which was more our style, went to the South Bend farmers market, visited Notre Dame, and went to local coffee shops and thrift stores. Regardless of the inconveniences, we had a nice, quiet stay and I received our damage deposit back a week after our stay.
