What Our Guests say 500 + Reviews

Summary: The home has a 5 star view, no doubt. The primary living space and outdoor spaces have a lot of charm. The owner is very friendly and hospitable. The home is old and some upgrades might make guests more comfortable. In particular, the bathrooms would be wonderful if fully tiled, perhaps a river stone tile or something similarly rustic. As it stands, the wood finishing is water damaged. The floor tile work is kinda shabby linoleum. Replacing the tub in the master with a walk-in shower would be amazing. There is no television and the internet is little shaky. I suppose that could be considered a positive as it encouraged us to play family games, however, the Olympics were on and I wish I could have caught the games while I was there. All in all, we enjoyed our time, mostly we just wished the bathrooms were nicer and that there was a TV available.

Summary: Unfortunately, the stay was not as expected. When booking it mentioned a private beach and not until the week leading into check in were we advised that there is no beach. Not too much of a problem, minus the fact that you would have to take a straped ladder down to get into the water, which was not good for swimming. There was also no recommendations provided for beach options instead. There was a significant ant problem in the kitchen and we had to keep everything in our cooler or the fridge to avoid problems. The BBQ provided took some time to get going, which is not a problem, except it was too dirty inside to use without a scraper to clean it. When I emailed David about the concerns for the beach, and asked about a possible discount he offered me to cancel the reservation (which was short notice to try and book anything else for those dates) or to mail me a cheque for $150 to my home address, mixed into a guilt trip email. When I advised David of the concerns with the ants and the BBQ as a heads up for the next guests, I received another email which felt full of guilt again, advising that 800$ was spent earlier in the summer to deal with the ant and mice problem. I was very hopeful for a nice vacation, and while we were still able to enjoy our time together, it was fairly disappointing. The room thats surrounded by the glass doors seems to have not been cleaned for quite some time and we didnt end up spending much time in there. We ended up leaving a day early.

Summary: Beautiful place to relax. If you love the outdoors and rustic accommodations, this is the place to stay. Disappointing that the beach wasn’t available due to high water, but this certainly was not the owners fault. The owner was amazing and very attentive to our needs and concerns.

Summary: You can't find a better view while staying in the area. Cabin is rustic & unique. Had some great hikes and enjoyed being outside on the different decks, patios and down by the water. Not the easiest trek to get to the water. Steep driveway. No air conditioning - usually not a problem, but there was a heat wave when we were there. Owner was very responsive and informative. Would stay here again.

Summary: Our stay was beyond expectations! The house and the view were extraordinary. Walks on the private beach each evening with the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen were the best way to end our days after sightseeing around Niagara. I hope one day I can return. I’m so thankful David shares his piece of Heaven with others! He was so nice and easy to communicate with. I couldn’t have asked for a better few days to spend celebrating!
