Mammoth Cave House | Beautiful Lakefront Home with lake access!

3 Bedroom House in Mammoth Cave

Beautiful house located on Nolin River Lake. Sleeps 8-10 with plenty of parking. The house features two large decks one with a deck level hot tub and the other is a covered outdoor kitchen with running water during warm months. There is a washer and dryer available. Mammoth Cave is approximately 20 minute drive. Moutardier Marina has pontoon and jet ski rentals. The closest boat ramp is in the neighborhood within a five minute drive. Blue Holler Off-road Park is 10 minute drive. Shady Hollow Golf course 8 miles away! Come and enjoy life at the lake!
Please be advised! Nolin Lake is owned by the US Army Corps of Engineers. It is used for flood control. The best access for the lake is during the summer months. the Corps raises the lake for the summer starting in April and typically stays at “summer pool” until early October. Winter pool is 25-30 feet below summer pool. Which makes the lake inaccessible during winter months. During rainy seasons the lake has been known to go 25 ft above summer pool. Also making the lake hard to access. We try very hard to keep the access to the lake available but sometimes the levels change drastically and are hard to keep up. We do the best we can.

Summary: Pros: The view was excellent as advertised. The house resources were more than expected when it came to items that helped care for my grandson (7 mos) and great niece (2 mos). Cons: The house smelled of dust and mildew. My family went ahead and cleaned the floor, cobb webs and spider webs. Taking stock of the area showed me some concerning items of the electrical nature. I found some romex electrical cable exposed to the elements in the rafters and under the deck where they had added new wiring for the bar area. The deck showed considerable effort to patch aging and rotted wood alongside the new wood portions. The wood stain was used to cover it. I asked my family to stay away from the hot tub area in particular. Parking was a bit of an issue initially while we tried to unload our stuff. The neighbors in the next house were justifiably put out when they arrived with our cars blocking the spots. We sorted the mess out. Unfortunately, we still had to deal with them and the late loud music, loose large dogs, them blocking access to the exit ladders on the docks intentionally. They insulted my 60 year old sister by flipping her and my daughter off then running inside the house. Later, they called my daughter a pig due to child birth weight. I should have read the reviews more thoroughly. I should have understood better that the owners meant a maximum of sleeping 10 people also meant no more than 10 completely on site even if only visiting for the day.

Summary: We try to rent this cabin every few years. Its really has everything you really need. The location is stunning and the deck gives you the perfect view. The only reason i gave 3 stars on cleanliness is because it doesnt look like the property itself is being maintained very well anymore. We also had to clear almost a foot of ash out of the grill before we could even use it.

Summary: For the most part this scenic house was very accommodating and had more than enough amenities, especially with the deck and kitchen and hot tub. Our one complaint was that the queen mattress in the guest bedroom was literally broken in the middle. It made sleeping for my wife incredibly uncomfortable and we had to utilize the children's beds. Otherwise very nice stay!

Summary: Nice house. Great view from the back deck!! Good central location to Noris Lake state park and Mammoth National Park and other activities. We loved the Mammoth cave historic tour. And highly recommend E bike rental thru Mammoth National park. Sooo fun. Overall great experience. The house had everything you need, dishes, pots pans, coffee maker, crock pot, board games, cards movies, etc.! Thanks for a great stay.

Summary: We were not sure we would be able to sleep here due to the heavy cleaning fluid smell when we walked in. The outdoors area is much more run down looking then the pictures. The picnic table was dilapidated and the corn hole was not useable. Half of the light switches did not work in the house. It just felt kind of gross and old, for the price you pay a night. The walk down to the lake was ridiculously steep and very unsafe. The only spot we enjoyed was the patio with the beautiful view of the lake. But as we were sitting on the patio we also noticed that there is a camera facing that area which felt uncomfortable.
