Our piece of paradise, Ithilien at Woodstock on the banks of the Motueka River, is an ideal place for a great holiday in a magnificent corner of New Zealand.
We offer self-contained accommodation in peaceful rural surroundings; the opportunity for outdoor adventure such as walking in the mountains or kayaking in crystal clear coastal waters; a chance to discover the many local arts, crafts, vineyards and beaches and, last but not least, wonderful trout fishing right on our doorstep. It is also a great place for just sitting, taking in the stunning views (famous for their appearance in the movie the “Lord of the Rings”) and leaving the rest of the world behind.

Summary: As soon as we approached this property, we knew that we were going to love it here. And it turned out to be not just the views of the mountains and the serenity of our surroundings, but also the friendliness and hospitality of our hosts (and their bread, scones, walnuts and interesting stories) as well as their enchanting dogs. We really hope to return one day and will urge our friends to visit too.

Summary: We felt very welcome and straight away felt like it was a home away from home. Location is just what we wanted - somewhere where we can chill and listen to the birds. Lots of tui and bellbirds singing. Cannot wait to return one day!

Summary: The bach was lovely, stunning views and wonderfully cosy with the fire burning and beautiful and neat.

Summary: It was a wonderful experience - just need to plan activities and meals and embrace the environment. Its around 25mins round trip to the nearest grocery shop. Stunning setting and excellent hosts. Only 40 mins to kaiteriteri beach and golden sand - great day trip ..25 mins drive to motueka ..and another 5mins from there to mapua. 5 min drive to good river swimming and meandering .. and 10 mins to winery/cafe. Wonderful bird life and extremely peaceful - great for time out or to explore.
