The studio has sea and native bush views, 35 minutes north of Auckland city centre on the east coast. A rustic natural timber structure offering you privacy and tranquillity. It's a large isolated single room with a unique bathroom overlooking the bush out to sea. A pretty cottage garden entrance and a 5 minute walk to our private beach. We’re 5 minutes drive from Wenderholm Regional Park and only 7 minutes from Orewa town centre with many restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and bars.

Summary: Could not recommend more. Loved this place and will certainly be back. Perched on the hill top with grand glass windows opening up the native push and surrounding water. We spent the weekend reading and eating and it was just the spot for it. Great hosts also.

Summary: Te Rakau is a great quiet spot a couple of miles north of Orewa which in turn is half an hour out of Auckland. It has spectacular views over the islands in the bay and, being set back quarter of a mile from the road, is silent at night. So taking your jetlagged self to bed at 6 pm and not getting disturbed is a great way to recover. I've stayed here several times before and thought I'd try it without a car - there's an hourly bus service into Orewa for shopping, restaurants, bars etc and most of the drivers will stop to pick you up or drop you off at any safe spot on the road as well as at the bus stops. Te Rakau will always be my place to go if I just need to relax - I love the private bay which is ideal for walking and swimming.
