3 Bedroom Villa in Villaggio delle Mimose, Cagliari

Villa Franca is a charming and peaceful single storey villa with its own private entrance set on a hill above Torre Delle Stelle. It has spectacular panoramic views of the sea and the Gulf of Cagliari. The terraced garden has its own fruit trees and offers complete privacy. It also has a magnificent pool, 13m x 6m designed with an infinity edge offering swimmers unobstructed views of the coastline. The pool is a private pool on the same level as the villa. There is also a built-in pizza/barbecue oven and outdoor shower. The 3 bedrooms are all ensuite with their own separate entrances offering guests both independence and privacy. The villa is fully air conditioned with all mod-cons including washing machine and dishwasher. The front of the villa has a covered veranda where dining alfresco is a pleasure whatever the weather!
There is a lovely white sandy beach 10-15 minutes walk away or go by car (preferable for young children).
Torre delle Stelle information: There are 2 entrances to the main area of Torre Delle Stelle. One is opposite the Aquarium restaurant (the main office and church is at this entrance) and the other has a restaurant/pizzeria at the top of the road (this is the nearest to the house and the beach). Both are found on the road heading back towards Cagliari and are a couple of minutes drive away. As you drive down into Torre there are tennis courts. Our nearest beach has a car park right by it. You will also find the Palmeira supermarket which has a butcher, fishmonger and small bar attached to it and an evening restaurant/pizzeria. The easiest way to find them is to follow the signs to the supermarket. There is a relaxed beach bar and open air seafood restaurant on the beach that blend with the natural unspoilt beauty of the area.
Surrounding area: Cagliari is approx. 40 minutes drive away. If you stay with the coast road as opposed to the motorway it takes you to the famous Poetta beach. There are lots of restaurants and bars situated along the beach and if you continue on the road past the beach you will come to the beautiful old part of the city.
If you turn left at the bottom of our hill you will be heading towards Villasimius approx 20 – 25 mins away. On this route you will see more breathtaking views and lots of little beaches. 4 mins drive away in Solanas is the well known Ristorante da Barbara. In Villasimius there are more excellent restaurants, bars and shops situated off the main street.
If you want to travel further beyond Villasimius is the Costa Rei where the beach runs for miles.
Villasimius marina: Boat hire is available in Villasimius, approx 20 minutes drive away going eastwards along coastal road:

Summary: We had a great three weeks at Villa Franca (June 24-July 15, 2023). The space outside the house, especially around the lovely, large pool is heavenly. Despite the sun-drenched days, there were always spots of shade as well. Although the house was quite a bit smaller than we expected, that was not a problem because life took place outside. The bedrooms and bathrooms were fine. In the evenings, the lounge sofa offered a comfortable place to talk, read, enjoy the view. But we also often sat by the pool at one of the tables, in the cooler evening breeze. We made the walk pretty quickly from the house to Torre de Stelle, to the little Palmira supermarket and the beach bar. We found it a brisk walk and kept it at that, then always taking the car to the store :-). By the way, you can eat very pleasantly at Palmira. Despite all the full tables with funny and noisy eaters, the service was smooth. We also ate at Farra. And the last night at Mosaic, highly recommended, super tasty food and wines. During our stay Francesco was a great host. He was always available, was very friendly and helpful, had solutions to every problem (e.g. a broken key in a lock), gave tips on beaches and restaurants and above all was incredibly kind. In short, Villa Franca and Francesco are recommended for an unforgettable vacation.

Summary: This is an amazing property, with amazing views. Only down fall if you have young children is that the 3 rooms are not all in the same house. We had to lock kids in and leave phones in room at night time. Closest town to go out for a walk etc in evening is villasimius around 30 mins away.

Summary: We've just come back from a most lovely two weeks (family of 5, 3 teenage children). The house is set on the side of a hill with beautiful views. But really, the photos don't (can't) do it justice. To sit in the infinity pool and enjoy all you can see .. wow The house is well kitted out with everything you'd want for a holiday. It's up a steep track up, so you need a car, though there's a 15 min walk to the beach (downhill, uphill longer). Not an easy walk, but good to do as it's almost as quick as driving to the same beach (or it feels like that) Rooms clean, beds comfortable. Some of us prefer harder pillows, but no house has everything (and pillows are so relative!) Perhaps the only downside (which we hope can be taken on board for the future) is the way the pool is filled up. Half way through we were told we had failed to fill it up enough, then we somehow overfilled it, causing the pump to stop. We felt really bad (and upset the excellent property manager). Left a sour sense for our last 24 hours. If a toilet can have a stopcock to stop overflowing, surely an infinity pool can too? And don't leave it to guests to regulate. BUT ... in every other respect this is a wonderful property. Really attentive manager and owner. The owner gave us excellent directions to the house, and could not have been more helpful in providing nice things for us to start the holiday. Also communication with owner and local property manager excellent. (We've never had better) Cagliari is about 50 minutes away - and there's not heaps nearby in terms of town life. But lots of great beaches (and the local one is excellent, with a cafe there, and two mini supermarkets in the village)

Summary: We really enjoyed our relaxing stay at lovely Villa Franca. We particularly loved the pool and outside space with various different areas to use, all with beautiful views. The entire villa was clean inside and out and is very well equipped. It is also well situated with a small supermarket, a couple of restaurants (Il Sagittario do good pizza, including takeaway in the evening and the staff are very friendly) and beaches a short drive away. Villasimius is about 20 minutes by car and the marina, beaches and town well worth a visit, there are also larger supermarkets there. Communication with Kim was excellent from booking onwards and we had a warm welcome from Francesco who gave recommendations and was on hand throughout our stay should we have any questions or problems. We would love to return one day and certainly recommend this villa, thank you Kim, David and Francesco

Summary: We have recently returned from the villa and have to say it is beautiful. Kim was really helpful right from the point of booking to just before we left. The villa is really well equipped and has so much space - both inside and out. The pool area and garden are a delight. A car is definitely needed in my opinion, and you will want to get out and explore the many amazing beaches nearby!

Summary: Description & Photos of the villa Provided are completely accurate Property & surrounds spotlessly clean The Infinity Swimming Pool was amazing - the pictures do not do it justice All ensuite rooms means you get the best of both worlds - Hotel & Villa Holiday Kim, the owner & Francesco "local property manager"provided the best possible service from Booking to the time of departing for home. Excellent Beaches & scenery & the bars & restaurants in the village were casual & great value Try 2 restaurants in the near by Village of Solanas - Il Veliero (casual with excellent Staff) & Da Barbara slightly more formal but still very reasonably priced - Supplies House wine from its own Winery which is excellent Would 100% recommend booking this Villa & would love to return soon.

Summary: We had an amazing 2 week stay at Villa Franca. The villa is cool, spacious and well appointed & we loved the traditional style. The main attraction is the beautiful private garden with the stunning views. The pool is large & kept spotlessly clean - we loved watching the swifts dip in the pool in the afternoons. Everything contributing to the complete relaxation that this villa offers. There are a couple of good supermarkets & a fishmonger in the village. We enjoyed the restaurant next to the supermarket - all very low key, which added to the charm - they do great pizzas & will do takeaway. We also enjoyed visiting Villasimus, the nearest town, especially the artisan ice cream parlour Amore Mio! The coastline is stunning and there are so many beautiful sandy beaches within a short driving distance of the villa. This was a perfect holiday, Thanks to Kim & Francesco for everything. Would love to return soon.

Summary: Our party of 5 adults enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing weeks holiday at Villa Franca. We have previously booked villa holidays with companies such as Simpson's and while you have to book your own flights and car, Villa Franca is just as good. Positioned up a hillside track, the villa enjoys superb views of the near by bay and across to Cagliari. The infinity pool is large and beautifully clean, perfect for whiling away the time bobbing on a li-low in the sun. The villa is private and not overlooked. It's quite rustic in design, but with all mod-cons including air conditioning (which we didn't use as the shutters kept the bedrooms cool), dishwasher etc. The bedrooms are all large and comfortable with their own high quality bathrooms. WiFi can be a bit hit and miss but hey, you're on holiday! Francesco is the local contact who is very helpful and who speaks very good English. There are many excellent restaurants pretty close by and also I believe nice sandy beaches, although we couldn't bring ourselves to leave the pool and its views. For added fun, try making your own pizza's in the villa's pizza oven. Everyone had a role from dough making to fire chief and the results were excellent. Do yourself a favour and book into Villa Franca. You really won't regret it!

Summary: Our family of six had an idyllic, relaxing stay at this beautiful villa. The fabulous large infinity pool kept calling to us, but we did venture out to a couple of lovely beaches just down the coast. Francesco was very attentive and helpful throughout our 2 week stay and even the resident cats were well behaved, but by the end of our holiday over-fed! I would love to return to this place in paradise at some time in the future and thoroughly recommend it for a relaxing vacation.

Summary: Spectacular views! It is not surprising an earlier guest had decided to paint the view and to include a copy in the guest book at the villa. An absolutely unbeatable location, a really wonderful week - just one is really not enough. We were so enchanted with the pool and vista that we have to admit we did not explore the island as much as we intended. We were so happy to stay put as the setting of Villa Franca is so peaceful and relaxing. We all unwound by the pool looking out at views across the Bay toward Pula and beyond. We had lunch in the shade of the olive trees and in the evening we would watch the sun melt into the most breath-taking sunsets. The children loved the pool and we also spent time on the beautiful beach below with it's crystal clear water that was very safe for them to play in. We appreciated the tasteful interiors of Villa Franca, a holiday hideaway where care has been taken to provide everything to make for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Francesco, the agent, was really friendly and helpful. He made sure we felt at home from the start. We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and we will definitely be back.
