The Wooster family farmhouse was built at the head of Crockett Cove in 1843. The guest house/barn is the residence available for rental. It was built in 1964. It faces south with a lovely water view and summer breeze. One can hear the reversing falls at all times except high tide when you can slip over the the falls and kayak in the completely conserved natural area, the largest salt marsh on the island. The Barn/Guesthouse is situated behind the farmhouse the dark roof of which is just barely visible in the aerial photograph of the property.

There is a large room with a fireplace at one end and a large semi-open kitchen at the other. There is a bedroom with a queen size bed on the first floor and a sleeping loft with two twin beds. There is a bathroom with a shower/bathtub on the first floor.
You may leave kayaks or rowing shells on the shore.

Summary: The location on Crockett Cove is outstanding. This a perfect spot to just sit and watch the tide come in and go out. Our hostess was friendly, considerate, and helpful. The kitchen was spacious and well-equipped, the eclectic furnishings were charming, and the shelves held many fascinating books from the family library. There are hiking trails nearby and kayaking available.

Summary: Elin’s barn on Crockett‘s Cove is a true slice of coastal heaven! When we first walked onto the property and saw the view we were awe inspired… simply breathtaking, serene and peaceful. The pictures in no way do it justice! The barn is artistically and thoughtfully appointed. We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet tranquility, even while one of us worked from a laptop full-time. Being able to walk out our door and jump in to kayaks at anytime, or sit quietly while taking in the spectacular view, was a precious commodity to us! We were able to sleep with our windows open every night, the temperate climate there is amazing! We found the neighbors and locals all exceptionally friendly and welcoming! The shops are quaint and the local fare is scrumptious… Don’t miss Roberts Harbor Farm and Creelmans Farm ( and Main St shop ), along with Marston House Antiques and the Winifred & Evalyn shop on North Haven Rd…needless to say, I was in heaven! The owner has lovingly preserved and maintained the entire historic property, making it a true destination and a striking getaway. In all our travels, we have not experienced anything quite like it and would happily return! We thoroughly enjoyed the owners puppy and kitten, chickens and an occasional grazing sheep… Bucolic and picturesque barely come close to describing how special this place truly is… We would highly recommend it!

Summary: What a charming and comfortable little “barn” elegantly furnished with a first-rate commercial grade kitchen. And Elin our host made us feel so at home, quietly leaving fresh eggs and peaches on our porch. The reversing falls are a wonder of nature providing tidal pools that are lovely for swimming, being warmed in the sun and being cut off from the cove for half of each tide cycle. And the view down the cove is astonishing. Highly recommended!

Summary: The setting of this property at the head of Crockett’s Cove is ideal. Kayaking, paddle boarding, cooking meals, watching the chickens, playing with the owners dog, swimming in the local quarrys, hiking the conserved land on the island were just some of the activities we enjoyed on the island.

Summary: When your hostess provides not only a fully equipped kitchen but a potted herb garden just outside the kitchen, you know you have arrived in a place that would meet anyone's aesthetic and sensate expectations. And if you value peace and tranquility, Crockett Cove is the place to rest, restore and appreciate the wonders of Maine. The restored Barn is worthy of Architectural Digest and is featured in the August 2016 Maine Home and Design. We are enjoying every minute of our week at The Barn and only hope this is only our first visit.
