Situated on the edge of Carcassonne, with it's beautiful medieval Cite, ample shops and restaurants. Le Moulin which opened in 2004 is open all year long and offers first rate self-catering accommodation which is cooled for the Summer and heated for the Winter. Sleeps 6 comfortably and ideally situated for exploring the beautiful Languedoc. Le Moulin has a very large garden with a 24ftx12 above ground pool, plenty of space for ball games, boules, badminton etc. We also offer short winter breaks and long week ends by arrangement - ideal for house hunting etc.

Entrance: Own front door to spiral staircase leading to first floor which has an open planned aspect. Lounge Area: A large spacious area with two comfortable settees in front of a TV
There is a coffee table in front of a glass sliding door (with safety rail) which offers views of the courtyard and open countryside. There are two large variable speed ceiling fans for hot days. Dining Area: A large 8 seater table and chairs situated by a window with a view of the garden. Kitchen Area: A large rustic kitchen which is fully equipped with a 4 ring gas cooker with a large oven. There is also a fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster.
Shower Room: Just off the lounge is a spacious shower room with toilet, tiled vanity unit with a large mirror above and a sumptuous tiled walk-in shower. Large Double Bedroom: Views of the mountains can be seen here on the main floor. Mezzanine level: Reached by pine staircase. Double Bedroom: A double bed with two singles a large wardrobes, chest of drawers & skylight window. Twin Bedroom: double +Two single beds, two bedside cabinets, double wardrobe & skylight window.
Outisde: A large garden with above ground pool and sun loungers. Changing room with seperate WC. Shaded terrace and BBQ ideal for leisurely meals. .An open-fronted barn in the courtyard is shaded and ideal for parking out of the hot sun. Also, there is a utility area which has a sink, washing machine and ironing board etc.
There is so much to see and do in this wonderful area and nearby is a world class golf course, it also has a 9 hole pitch & putt plus a driving range. Nearby Go-karting ,Jungle walks/water skiing/zip wires.

Summary: We had a lovely holiday. The swimming pool was great- clean and big enough for a reasonable swim. Beds comfortable and kitchen well equipped. Good communication with host who is quick to respond to questions. Food shopping 5 mins away with Marie Blaichaire for great bread!

Summary: We had a great fortnight at Bob's Gites outside Carcassonne this August. We are a family of 5, with children aged 14, 12 and 7. We left, relaxed, tanned and having had some great days out. Bob was an excellent host, a charming fellow and happy to help with anything we required and did so. That said, there were some things that would have caused some customers some disquiet. Having booked this holiday, efforts to contact the owner failed. This was not his fault but HomeAway's system, I believe. It didn't cause us any problems. However, when we arrived, Bob was very welcoming and showed us around. Charming though he was, I'm not sure his heart is 100% in it anymore! The accommodation was simple and fairly basic. There were various shortcomings such as some of the drawers being broken, the kitchen knives unable to cut, the shower head being low, the TV channels not working etc but this sort of small thing shouldn't and didn't effect our holiday. Bob tried to fix the TV and identified the problem. In the meantime, he provided his DVD collection to keep us entertained. The property has a 'fosse septic', which is an environmentally sound way of foul waste disposal. It was easy to abide by the rules but it wasn't unusual for a foul smell to be wafting around the house and garden. At times this was pretty horrible and I did raise it with Bob who apologised profusely but explained that it was a side effect of the system. The property suffered when it got really hot, which it obviously did. The children's bedrooms were upstairs and by the end of a hot / humid day they were sweltering. Bob had provided fans for all rooms and we had brought our own, which helped and we acclimatised but it was tough going at times. The property is on a busy road but the garden was private. A bigger pool would have been welcome. We had to use the car to go anywhere but Carcassonne is less than 10 mins away and amenities even closer. Bob gave us all the local info - best shops, restaurants etc. We had a spectacular dinner at his recommendation, at Le Marquiere inside the Cite De Carcassonne. He also recommended the market in 11th Century Mirepoix which was about 35 mins away and was a great day out - Monday's only. The beaches were about an hour away but there were a few to choose from. I did some research - although Narbonne is the closest, the beaches are long and pretty uninspiring. We went to La Franqui - Leucate water park is nearby.
