Summary: This property was simply wonderful surrounded by nature. The house was very clean and had no issues in this area. Kitchen was well stocked for dishes, pots and pans etc. Everything worked as expected. The house itself was great, the fireplace in the living room was a wonderful touch. We visited in October and the evenings were a bit chilly. We had fires in the outside fire pit every night and truly enjoyed the outdoor spaces of this property, fire pit, decks and views. If it matters to anyone, the living room does not have a TV, but for us it actually made things more enjoyable for us. The house itself is very close to downtown Berkeley Springs and all the attractions there, only a few minutes away. All in all this was a wonderful trip for us and we will definitely be back.

Summary: We absolutely loved the Bella Mattina and would definitely book again. You can't beat the views and location. We are looking for land with views exactly like the ones on this property , with no luck. The house was amazing as well. Very quiet and serene. Very clean and plenty of room. The only two things I would note is that the master does not have its own bathroom. So all three bedrooms share the same bathroom on the top floor. There is a second bathroom downstairs that has a jacuzzi and shower. There is a wonderful firepit on site. I didn't know that you are supposed to bring your own wood, kindling and fire tools. We were fortunate that the previous renters left chopped wood and kindling. We had to drive back to town for a lighter to use to start the fire. These are not significant issues but just things to know about before you go. I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. It was exactly what we were looking for and we hope we find a location of our own just like this one day. Special thanks to Johnny for responding to any questions we had Very quickly. Book now. You will be so glad you did!

Summary: This place has the potential to be nice, but it is not worth what is being charged. First of all, it is a fairly large house in a great neighborhood, it is surrounded by farms and horse pastures which make it very nice and quiet, and you feel very safe there. The problems with the house are numerous, first and very importantly, there is no cental air conditioning. There are small but noisy AC units in each of the bedrooms, but there is nothing in the living areas or the bathrooms. When we arrived, it was 90+ degrees outside, and the house was in the upper 80s. We searched for the thermostat to turn the AC on and only then did we discover that there was no AC. The online ad is very deceiving and leads you to think there is air conditioning. Because there is no AC, the house was too warm and humid, the doors were swollen and were difficult to open and close, the house and all of the furnishing had an unpleasant smell due to the lack of AC. I immediately called the maintenance man to complain, and he said he had no idea there wasn't central AC, we were the first guests that ever complained about it. Needless to say, there was nothing he was able to do about the heat in the house. I was ready to leave but decided to stay and make the best of it. I sat down on the couch figuring I will watch TV while I tried to come up with a solution to the heat problem. That's when we discovered there was no TV to watch either! No AC, No TV, WHAT THE HECK... OK, I'll just load up my tablet and watch some tictoks... the internet froze up as soon as I logged on, it is DLS service - 2.5Mbs fast. I couldn't even stream on my tablet. So with no AC, no TV, no internet, what am I going to do? I start looking around in the house and I realized the place was filthy, dog hair was everywhere, dust and dirt covered everything. The previous guest must have had a black dog with them that they allowed to sleep on the beds, because the beds were covered with dog hair. The floors were dirty, the furniture was dirty, the beds were dirty... everything was dirty. We opened the refrigerator to put away our groceries and the inside was dirty. The ice maker doesn't work, I had to go out and buy a bag of ice. We spent hours cleaning the house to make it somewhat acceptable. I do not recommend renting this house during the summer, unless you really like it hot and smelly. Or unless you are an exhibitionist, as there are no window coverings in the bathroom.

Summary: First I want to say I really want to give this property a 5-star rating, if it had central A/C. During our stay the temperature never got over 82° so the house stayed at a reasonable temperature. It does have standalone units in every bedroom and in the downstairs main level. The bedroom A/C units work very well however the main level never worked well so we were glad for the lower temperatures. We just left the bedrooms closed during the day and left the house open to the fresh air. The property itself is absolutely beautiful, it has great views with wildlife running around, a fire pit, outside shower, and is just very private and peaceful. All of that and is only 5 minutes from everything you need in downtown Berkley, WV which was nice. The gravel road is well maintained as we where all on motorcycles and this was a concern of ours. I would book this again in the late fall or early spring.

Summary: I rented Bella Mattina for a long weekend looking for a peaceful place to disconnect from work and life issues. This was the best election ever. The house is beautiful and you can see a labor of love at every corner of it. Three generations, mother, daughter and granddaughter, we also had the perfect spot for bonding. Everything worked perfectly, we only contacted our designated agent to extend our stay...we were so happy there. We will definitely go back!
