Summary: Front desk staff were awesome. The barmaid "Georgia" was very nice. The grounds were clean and the caretaker was very helpful. However, the restaurant hostess and morning server were "snooty". The shower curtain does not go to the floor and the fan in the room did not work. The grounds are beautiful and the site is close to stores and other restaurants all while being secluded.

Summary: We arrived on a hot day in June and our room was 81 degrees, according to the thermostat. We adjusted the temperature to 76 and left our room for the day. When we returned at 2:00 in the morning, the room was still 81. The fan on the air conditioner was whirring away, but the room was not being cooled. As it was late, we decided to simply open the balcony door and the window, which were both screened. Within minutes, our room was filled with every type of insect and bug. They were congregating on the night tables, the lamp shades, our phone screens. Bugs were flying in our noses and ears. We had no option but to call the front desk. The night attendant, Julius, was extremely apologetic, explaining that they'd had a power outage the night before and they thought all the air conditioners had been reset. Ours had not. Also, the pool was out of service during our stay because of the power outage. Julius quickly found us another room, albeit across the road from where we were, and he was most helpful in getting our belongings moved over. The downside was that the new room was up three flights of stairs, which was physically challenging for my companion and me. The new room was very satisfactory and we had no further disruptions for the duration of our stay. We really have to give kudos to Julius who saved the day and rescued us from a nightmare scenario. I just wish it hadn't been necessary in the first place. No one from management ever contacted us to follow up.

Summary: This once beautiful property needs to be renovated and redecorated. Its situated on the Maitland river with trails close by and Blyth theater.

Summary: Peaceful location, nice room upgrades, free high speed wifi and parking, nice restaurant on property. Be mindful historic buildings spread out so no elevators in our building but likely some main floor rooms if this an issue Close to beaches and Goderich, shopping Staff all lovely to deal with.
