It all seemed a little mysterious to me, but then I visited the property and I have to admit, it became much clearer. This incredible rental property is hidden on 14 acres of magical mountain property. Outside there are woods to explore and places to hike, ponds and streams to reflect by, and even a labyrinth that provides the perfect maze for contemplation and meditation. Extensive decking connects the house to nature in an almost mystical way that brings the outdoors to you. The main house offers an open floor plan with a generous kitchen, ample dining area and comfortable living room that features a large stone fireplace. Enjoy WIFI, cable TV and unlimited long distance. The guest house adds two more bedrooms, another full + half bath, a lovely living space and well-equipped kitchenette. Suddenly Berkana becomes the perfect spot for friends and family to gather. Berkana's charming guest house also offers a flat screen TV, gas fireplace, breakfast nook and more. Please note: the guest house can only be rented in conjunction with the main house. Access to the garage is not included with the rental of one or both. Online pricing for both houses is accurate.

I have stayed all over that mountain in twenty or more houses as we've been retreating there for 25 years. Berkana suited us well. The porch is relaxing, the kitchen is accommodating, we slept well in the beds. I did stock the kitchen with some dish cloths, towels, and a skillet. BUT I usually leave something at every home. However, Berkana, was not in need like most as we cook our meals. We have big breakfast, little lunch, and nice dinner. Berkana was clean and refreshing. The cottage was very accommodating just the same. I would recommend this rental to any family. The outside porch had nice furniture and the hot tub was pleasant under the stars.

Reviewer Comments: This was a great place for a WV "staycation" and to beat the summer heat. Location is exceptionally peaceful and quiet and the deck is one of the nicest I've seen in timberline. The kitchen is a little dated looking but everything worked well and appreciated having a gas range. Minor issues would be missing fire pit (shown in photos) and could use a few more pieces of deck furniture (although what was there looked new and was quite nice). Also, there is not a second hot tub located on porch of the Cottage despite what the photos show. Bottom line: Would stay here again.

What a peaceful and relaxing location! We didn't see another person for the whole four days! The walks through the wooded property, relaxing in the hot tub or on the beautiful deck, eating outside and hiking in the Timberline community were all just what we needed. Berkana is spacious and well equipped, with kitchen appliances, games, gas grill, etc, and The Cottage, although it only has a kitchenette, is tastefully decorated and fitted,and my daughter and her young family felt as though they were actually part of the woods. Every day was a nature study for my 4 year old grandson, with newts, toads, birds and frogs all around the area. Some of the photos really don't do the properties justice, particularly those of the Cottage. I would heartily recommend the property and hope to return one day.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We came up for a long weekend with friends from DC, so my 5 year old could experience snow (we are from Miami). Berkana is located- 15 minutes from the Cannaan Ski Resort where we went snow tubing and skiing (a really great ski spot- super friendly!). The drive to and from Berkana was delightful as it wound through the country side where we caught glimpses of deer everywhere. The property of Berkana is incredible-- very peaceful and beautiful complete with some nice hiking trails. Loved the gong and the hot tub of the deck-- nice touch! The space in the main house was very spacious and great for entertaining, cooking, and lounging around. The house was relatively clean, but could use a solid deep cleaning. We would definitely come back.
