Positive: The room was lovely and very clean, exactly as shown in the photos. It was as advertised – a room on the top floor of a new‑build property with a homestay feeling. The location was convenient for getting into Dublin and for reaching the ferry port quickly. The host was very helpful and didn't mind that we were running late, welcoming us warmly.
Negative: The room was advertised as including a private bathroom; however, this was incorrect, as the bathroom was located one floor below the room. The listing also stated that an electric kettle was provided, which was not the case. The room was also very cold as the radiator wasn't on. All wardrobes had locks on the doors, which made the stay somewhat uncomfortable, while the room door itself did not have a lock. For this reason, I would not recommend the room for a longer stay, as it could not be securely locked during the day or at night. The most annoying issue was the loud noise coming from the boiler room located in the left corner of the room. Every time someone in the house used the toilet and water, there was a very loud noise followed by a high‑pitched whistling sound. Although the house and room are located in a quiet residential area, the internal noise meant that we were unable to sleep at all, which was far from ideal, as the noise came on constantly during the night. Additionally, artificial reed diffusers were placed in the entrance hall and inside the room. As I am quite sensitive to strong scents, I had to move them outside. Hosts should be mindful that such items can cause adverse reactions for some guests.
Summary: Good value for money overall, although there were a few drawbacks that should be considered.
