3 Bedroom House in Hatepe

This property was a much-loved place where my parents would escape to. A quintessential New Zealand Bach. An idyllic retreat that is 3 minutes' walk from the edge of Lake Taupo. Good trout fishing with many bush walks and bike tracks once you have tired of swimming and boating. Three quarters of an hour's drive from Whakapapa Ski field and 20 minutes' drive in to Taupo. Tennis court available at the Marae. The native bird population is fascinating with lots of tuis, bellbirds, kereru, and quail.
It is to be noted that there is some road noise from the Main Road, please be prepared for this. Also note that the property is not fenced at the front it is open to the road for your animals. There is a long line that can be used to secure if your dog is a wanderer. In the village dogs are not allowed to roam free. There is no Wi-Fi but you do get good cell phone reception.
Also available is a separate self-contained sleepout that will sleep 8 and can be hired at an additional charge. The sleepout has stove, fridge, microwave and kitchen facilities, wood burner and separate bathroom Wonderful for two families. We have utilised is as the children sleep in the sleepout and the parents have quality time in the main house. Two bikes are available as is a double kayak only if the sleepout is being hired.
Minimum of 2 night's stay.

Pets allowed but to be kept off furniture
Under Kiwi Bach tradition you are expected to bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels)
Extras: Cleaning (NZ$80.00 per stay will be a higher rate if sleepout is hired as well)

Summary: The location was fantastic and was perfect for our stay. The property was clean and tidy and it was a little chilly when we stayed but there was plenty of firewood to make it cosy. Although close to the main highway, it wasn’t really noticeable and to be honest didn’t bother us at all. We all had a great time and plan to return next year.

Summary: Hatepe is a fantastic location just 20 minutes from Taupo. The cottage is a great kiwi bach and has everything you would need for a holiday. We were there for work in Taupo and hadn't realised how close to the highway the bach was. Trucks noise was a bit disruptive at night. While we loved the location but the bach is very dusty, especially the bedrooms, and needs a good clean. Not so good if you are allergic to dust. The beds are very comfortable

Summary: We had a great stay, and the BBQ area was wonderful to use. We didn't know there wouldn't be any toilet paper, thank Goodness for tissues in the lounge. We went bought some and left two rolls there. The single beds are actually king singles so our fitted sheets didn't fit, luckily there was a linen cupboard that we utilized and washed the sheets before we left. The kitchen needed to be cleaner and the pantry was full of out of date food that didn't need to be there. Getting access was difficult as owner sent info to wrong ph number, partly my fault as they had left a number out which i didnt notice Luckily we were able to contact 0800 number and get it sorted
