Positive: I liked the interesting original part of the building, the garden, the facilities supplied such as a newish washing machine, clean kettle and toaster. The property was generally clean but it felt grubby from all of the old books etc stuffed into every shelf, cupboard and drawers. The fireplace was attractive but we didn’t use it. The crockery was sparkling clean, with a couple of bowls, one chipped. It was very quiet. Nice views. The storage heaters were adequate in December, but it wasn’t very cold out. The double bed was very comfortable and clean linen. It would be a convenient spot if the local pub reopens as hoped. The cupboard for coats was appreciated.
Negative: I have quite a list. Every drawer and most cupboards were full of someone’s belongings. There was nowhere to hang clothes apart from a beam in the bedroom I found. All these belongings made us feel uncomfortable somehow, plus we needed drawer space which wasn’t provided. The old faded curtains were ill fitting and were far past their best. If they were replaced it would make a great difference. They were not charming, just tatty. The kitchen and bathroom must’ve been built/ fitted in the 70s which is a mismatch to the original cottage. The paint on the walls needs a refresh in some places. I can’t understand replacing a mirror or storage heater and then leaving the old marks on the walls. Surely 5 stars could never be given to this place. The bathroom has a loose weave ill-fitting net curtain which looked grey in places complete with a crispy spider, but no blind or proper curtains for warmth . I understand the garden it overlooks is private, but even so.. plus a shredded piece of wood near the bath unpainted at the bottom. The shower screen was not new, and so it looked a bit dirty. The tv only worked on bbc1 and a few other channels which suffered bad interference or no signal. That was a shame. Someone needs to bother with this place and make it so much nicer for the money charged. We were told we could would be sure to find a parking spot at the end of the lane on Queens St. unfortunately this muddy patch was often taken by other vehicles which meant great difficulty in parking as every patch of ground or small lay-by nearby is naturally taken up by residents. This fact alone would stop us coming here again. The lanes are unlit so walking ten minutes to find the car in some random place is unacceptable if you are expecting to be able to park nearby. O and I personally disliked the cobwebbed portrait of a man watching my every move in the bedroom!
Summary: Disappointed at Christmas.

Positive: The cottage is very cute, cosy, and well stocked. It's located near some beautiful walks, and is only a 30 minute walk from the Roman villa. Chedworth is also a ten minute drive away from other major towns, like Bibury, Burford, and Northleach. The instructions for key collection were clear, and theoretically, it should have been really easy. The lockbox sticks, however, and we struggled for a while to get it open. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely stay again.
Negative: Our stay would have been perfect. The only complaints are that there is clearly some tension between the neighbours and the property owners, as some of the neighbours were quite rude. Also, the parking instructions were a little vague. The wood burner was a great addition to cottage, but I've never struggled so much to keep a fire going in my life. I wonder whether there's a block in the chimney? The only way we could keep the fire going was to keep the window window open.

Positive: Beautiful cottage and setting. Great kitchen. Very attractive furnishings and furniture, paintings etc. Within easy drive of wonderful villages and countryside.
Negative: Too cold and lights very dim. We ended up buying the ingredients for a fire. Steep stairs, we just had to be careful. Nowhere to hang clothes in the bedroom.

Positive: Absolutely loved the quiet location. Stunning little village/surrounds & everything we wanted for our English countryside experience. The cottage had all the English charm & character we'd hoped for. It was self contained with everything we needed for our 3 night stay.
Negative: For us, there wasn't much we didn't like. - You can't park the car at the property as there's no room (it has to be parked downhill at the end of the lane), but we've found its quite common to have minimal parking space in England! - You have to allow time to restore the inside of the cottage back to how it was left, including stripping bed sheets & bagging them etc (we've never had to do this at an accommodation before). - We're from Australia & used to an Australian size King size bed. The master bedroom had what seemed like a double bed & my 6'3 husbands feet hung over the end & it was also cramped for us both in there. He ended up sleeping in the spare bedroom on the single bed to give us both a better night sleep. Again, I'm aware smaller bed sizes are common in England, but I thought the room size was big enough to have a larger bed.

Positive: A really cosy and cute English cottage. It was very clean and comfortable in a quaint village.
Negative: The only issue was that we didn’t know exactly where we could park our rental car. Also, I’d recommend putting curtains in the bathroom windows for privacy after dark.

Positive: Beautiful home, comfy bed, log burner, very clean and tastefully decorated. The location was quiet and perfect for a weekend getaway! Walking distance to a good pub too! Lots of walks straight from the door of the cottage. Absolutely beautiful setting.
Negative: Real reliance on the fire when it gets down to cooler temperatures- which is fine as long as you remember to plan a lovely roaring log fire ahead of time!
Summary: Beautiful weekend away from it all

Positive: The location is "chocolate box" beautiful. The cottage is just stunning and perfect for a couple with a small child. It has all the amenities one could ask for. The exceptionally kept garden at the back is a gem and we cherished it on a daily basis. The neighbours were very friendly and helpful. We could have moved in permanently in a flash. It felt very cozy and homey. The attention to details is superb. We can't wait to go back soon. It has been a truly magical experience for us.
Negative: The absence of a designed parking spot prompts a great consideration before booking especially for people affected with mobility problems.
Summary: A truly magical experience for us.

Positive: Typical English cottage with a lovely garden, beautiful interior, good kitchen, nice view and interesting surroundings.
Negative: The shower could have been better. And sitting at the table was not really comfortable due to the wooden benches. Parking the car down the road was fine, but for one of us not easy to climb the hill.
Summary: Altogether we really loved our stay in Brooklands

Positive: The location was wonderful if a little tricky to find! Village has absolutely no road names. Not the fault of the owner of the property and the locals were very helpful with directions
Negative: A bit of a heads up about parking would have been useful. Again, if it hadn't been for the help of a neighbour I don't know where I should have guessed the parking to be.
Summary: The village (good pub) and the cottage were a a delightful alternative to our days spent at Cheltene
