Sitting on one of the most picturesque properties in all of Oregon Wine country The Brookside Guest Home, is one of the two homes available to rent as part of The Brookside Retreat. For larger group and family events you can book both homes.
The Brookside Guest Home is tucked away on 21 beautiful acres filled with meadows, forests, waterfalls and a lake with meandering trails throughout. There is a stocked fishing pond that you are allowed to fish in, or if they aren't biting that day, it is a refreshing option for a swim. You will find this secluded property perfect for relaxation and enjoyment while being just five miles from downtown Carlton. Sitting in the heart of Oregon wine country there are countless vineyards minutes away as well as shopping, restaurants, and entertainment throughout the region.
The Guest Home is set up beautifully for some indoor / outdoor living. The main living area opens up onto a gorgeous patio with a central water feature just beyond. The kitchen is fairly small though has all the main features if your group needs. Also on the main floor is the master bedroom which opens up on to its own private patio. This bedroom is also ADA compliant and is perfect for guests where stairs are a challenge. It also offers a deep soaking tub as well as a standing shower. Upstairs you will find four additional bedrooms. Three are completely private with one connected to a large sitting area where one of the other bedrooms shares. Many of the the bedrooms have en suite bathrooms but please refer to the digital floor plans for specifics. The Guest Home is wonderful for extra sleeping space should you rent out the full property or a fantastic home for travelers as a smaller group.
Outdoors guests will have access to a private gas BBQ for their own grilling desires. There is also a large common firepit area for both homes, making a fun opportunity to get to know your 'neighbors' if the Manor is booked by another group.
We truly want you to enjoy your time and make some wonderful memories with your group. That being said, this is not a party or gathering house for groups that can't control their noise levels. We have relationships with all of our neighbors who have our direct contact information. Quiet time is 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. Please stay indoors during this time, keep the windows and doors closed and keep the volume to an enjoyable but reasonable level. If it is loud enough to be heard outside in these conditions, it is too loud for you to remain our guest. This property includes a noise alert monitoring system in order to ensure that neighborhood noise levels are respected. Again, please realize we want every group to enjoy their time, laugh, have fun and make memories. These devices are only to ensure noise levels don't reach a threshold that bothers our neighbors. Also, please note there is no electronic video surveillance monitoring the interior of the house.
PET FRIENDLY: **There is a $100 pet fee per pet with a maximum of $300 (3 pets). Please be aware failure to adhere to the house rules as it pertains to pets may result in cancellation of the booking with no refund. **

Summary: Great stay. Incredible property with tons of things to explore outdoors. Beds are comfortable. The heat upstairs is tricky, but works. The kitchen is tiny, with an underwhelming amount of supplies (for example, no large cutting boards and no coffee filters when we arrived... were brought the next morning).

Summary: This property is a great spot by a pond and creek with gorgeous outdoor seating and forested views. The house itself is fine (furniture very outdated & uncomfortable, bathrooms excellent, kitchen small but useable, on par for a vacation rental). The reason we are leaving 4 stars instead of 5 was a lack of communication from the host when we needed help at checkin, and when the AC broke. I called the phone # several times and got cut off or got to listen to another guest’s requests for help (shared lines? I don’t know, it felt weird). When I got to the voicemail it was full and we could not leave a message. Texts went unanswered for nearly 20 minutes in an AC crisis with 110+ degree temps. I get the impression that they need more staff. For what we were paying for this property I would have appreciated more attentive service.

Summary: Overall we had a very good stay. The house is set near a pretty pond with trails at the back. Beautiful and relaxing. Our daughter and dog really enjoyed the pond. It is closeish to a busy road, so make sure your dog stays on leash. It's very close to major wineries, which is great. The house itself could use an upgrade. The beds were comfortable but the furniture was low budget (you'd sink in chairs) and the flooring was worn. Only one television. Small things that add up. We paid quite a lot for a holiday rate, so perhaps this wouldn't have bothered me had we not paid luxury prices.
